I absolutely love this restaurant just from one visit. The food was fantastic. I dined with family and was able to try the catfish dinner with loaded baked potato, fried scallops, fried oyster, coleslaw, tossed salad with in-house ranch dressing and tartar sauce, and the margarita! The catfish dinner is absolutely to die for, with a thin fried batter but still very crispy and so very tasty with the tartar sauce. The fried scallops and oyster are delectable and cooked to perfection, not very overdone like most places. The tossed salad and homemade ranch were incredibly fresh and better than any I've ever had. Margaritas were strong, not overly sweet, and reasonably priced! The coleslaw could use some work, it was quite runny and a bit too sweet, and personally I prefer stringy vegetables over chopped coleslaw. Overall, food 5/5, as the coleslaw doesn't make a big impact on my opinions. But the service! The service was absolutely impeccable. Our server, Mehmet, was confident, calm, and collected despite us coming in during the middle of dinner rush. Our 5 margaritas came swiftly, which our server made himself, there was no designated bartender so he was making drinks while running orders and offering fantastic service. Mehmet was not only very quick at his work, but continuously made sure our table had everything we needed, and really felt out the vibe from our table. He was kind, comfortable when speaking with us, and even joking with us throughout checking on our table and other tables. And he never hesitated to give a great big smile! I will absolutely be returning to thi restaurant on future vacations, and requesting his service. Thank you, Mehmet! I rated atmosphere 4/5 due to the fact that, despite having a very beautiful restaurant, the restrooms are extremely uncomfortable and cramped in. The workers obviously do what they can to keep it clean and stocked, but they're simply too small and only 2...
Read moreWe had dinner at Stumpknockers the end of June, 2023. We arrived and fortunately they were not very busy. We were seated and had a decent view of the water. We decided to sit inside, even though it probably would have been nicer outside. The restaurant has a nice, in the woods, cabin type atmosphere and frankly reminded me a lot of back home a while back. Our server was named Jamie and you could tell it wasn't his first rodeo. Jamie did a good job with his serving duties and making us feel welcome. We ordered fairly quickly. It would have been faster, but we were not ready quick enough. The food came out and here's where we differ from a lot of other reviews that I read before we visited Stumpknockers. Honestly, it might have been an off day or something. But both of us only found the food to be okay. It wasn't bad, but wasn't anything all that great either. Tastes do differ. The food all seemed just a little bland to us. We both said that maybe we should have went with fried instead of Sautéed. Again, maybe it was just an off day. The hushpuppies were very good. But the rest of our seafood dinner wasn't as good as we were expecting after reading the reviews. Maybe if we try again sometime, we might have a different experience. Parking was kind of like going to a small fair, with folks parking in different areas in different ways. But everyone seemed to make due. At that point, there was a women that was brought in in a wheel chair. They had to bring her in backwards because they had trouble getting her over the threshold. So it's not the easiest place for that. But for the most part, it's a nice place for a meal, or to sit out at a nice outside bar and tip a few. I'm sorry that I wasn't more positive on the food, but I need to be honest. Maybe it would be different for you or us if we get a chance to try...
Read moreThis is a great Florida experience restaurant. It almost looks like a cabin on the river quaint and inviting rustic but full of surprises! You can choose either indoor or outdoor dining there's a nice bar overlooking the river semi enclosed or indoor dining We were served by our waiter Jamie an extremely attentive server. We ordered the gator nuggets as an appetizer and it was a tremendous sized portion more than enough for three or four people and then taking some home. They were tender and delicious. I got the fisherman's plate My wife got the scallops dinner. We got a full size salad with the meal that had cucumber hand cut lettuce carrot s cherry tomatoes onions and the most delicious raspberry vinaigrette I have ever tasted! The clam chowder was creamy and the clams were soft and not chewy Loved it. Once again everybody's portion was huge it came with hush puppies, green beans and a potato I had my plate blackened it was spicy but not overdone I came with shrimps and scallops crab cake white fish and oysters all tasted fresh. They had the most delicious six-layer carrot cake I've ever had but I also had and like to clean key with key lime pie. We finished up with a cup of coffee that was well brewed not bitter I have to say everything I ate and saw there it was of the highest quality highly recommend this place to somebody that wants to go to a point Florida location with a very relaxed atmosphere and tremendous food.
