This is a great place to enjoy a nice home cooked meal. It was our first time there. It was a holiday and a Monday so there were not many places open but, we did find the BEP. We walked in and were greeted by a very friendly server. She got our drinks and told us to take our time looking over the menu. She told us the specials and explained some of the dishes they had. I chose the pork chops, fried with 2 sides, okra/tomatoes and mashed potatoes/gravy. My wide also had the pork chops but she got one of each, fried and grilled with black-eyed peas and fried okra. We were with friends and one got meat loaf and one got pork chops. Everything was very delicious. The breading on the chops was was very flavorful. The meat loaf was literally a loaf of meat. It was tender and delicious. It's a real down home atmosphere and the service is the friendliest around. We will definitely go back soon.

Satisfying soul food on a Sunday. Ordered a take out veggie plate meal. Health is a value to me and this was a great meat-less meal was priced under $10. My veggies (fried okra, black eyed peas, greens, and Lima beans) were very well seasoned and full of flavor!!. I was surprised I didn’t even need any hot sauce. The hostess. Taylor (I learned there are two) was very welcoming and friendly. The hospitality here is worth visiting in this quaint Dade City town. If your driving down 301, consider slowing down to stop in for a meal which you will not regret. I was advised they are extending their hours even later to accommodate more folks. The fact they are open on a Sunday make it worth stopping in for brunch or lunch especially after a Sunday church service. I made the visit from neighboring Zephyrhills and I will come back to try the fried cabbage.

The Black Eyed Peas is a good value for the money. Our drinks were huge! The Big Daddy burger was absolutely incredible and sharable for two. The waitress was friendly but it was strange that she was sitting at a table to take a family's order. We asked for ketchup packets. The waitress did provide them, but was argumentative about why we needed them. That was uncomfortable. The burger was put together with ingredients that we requested to be put on the side, like the pickes and the tomatoes. We had to separate our own plates to share. The ambiance is quaint, with country murals and small spaces for tables. Overall, it was a nice lunch and a good value for the money.

Extremely dimly lit and cramped dining area. The color scheme was dark red walls (same color as the outside), rag curtains, a mural on one side depicted a western theme, multiple tables, one huge round table with very little room to move. The service was rushed once the wait staff actually arrived. She handed us menus then immediately asked what we wanted and after literally two seconds without a reply she went off to another table as she asked whar6we wanted to drink. She came back after maybe half a minute asked if we had decided and then said, "I'll give you a couple minutes," then swooped by to another table. Finally we ordered and the food came at a reasonable time. While we were eating the waitress brought out what appeared to be a bussing bin, but turned out to be a bin with napkins preparing to wrap silverware and placed it near where we were set. Another gentleman sat at the large table where a few people had finished, but the area wasn't even wiped down... The wait staff "joked (?)" about us (the person who had just sat down, the person I was with, and myself) not to look at the bin with silverware, but to work on it. The food portion was decent, but mediocre at best... The price wasn't really worth what we ordered. Nothing on the lunch menu, except drinks were under $10 and nothing screamed Southern Home Cooking... Well, unless you count the stream of grease which came from the burger I ordered...

Overall, the experience was almost laughable. The dark cramped dining area, complete chaos of staff, overpriced barely mediocre food, torn curtain, unhygenic table conditions, and much more make this experience one I won't repeat and would suggest...

While the service was overall pretty good (free watermelon sampler, they were selling whole seedless watermelons during my visit; overall friendly waitress and reasonable wait times), the atmosphere was less than desirable. The table dirty, the floors weren't well swept, and there was a loose electric cable going from a ceiling TV to a low outlet, which can be a safety hazard. The restrooms were a disaster; neither had good lighting (had to use my phone's flashlight just to see a little bit better), and the men's room probably hadn't been cleaned in years. It was absolutely filthy, and had it not been for the mediocre interior, atmosphere would definitely have received one star only.

The food was pretty good, and you get decent portions for the price. However, for 4 people, the check came to about $65 total.

Overall, a decent experience. I can't recommend this restaurant to many due to the lack of cleanliness, but it is still a...

Its definitely got a small town feel with feel good food on the menu. All of our food was well cooked and the portions were fair. I can't complain about price either. Everything seemed to be what you'd expect from a mom and pops establishment.

The downside is the extremely cramped, dank and dark interior. There's hardly enough room for the tables they have in there. You can expect to bump into and have to side step to your seat or apologize for bumping into other patrons. Its packed with as many seats and tables as they can get. If you're a people person that enjoys having to hear everyones conversation and have them in yours; this is your place.

It almost feels like you're in grandma's kitchen in the 80s... if she was ripping down Marlboros reds and drinking a spicy bloody mary.

We loved the food but will avoid this place in the future. As we prefer to have our meals without...
