Obligatory 'I don't usually write reviews' comment to start... but usually people append that with a scathing review.
This is not that review.
Today (7/16/21), at work, I realized I did not have time to go home and have lunch as a normally do (pesky meetings! :)). I recalled a co-worker gave raving reviews of Cafe View saying 'Moustafa is an incredible person and... have you ever had Baklava?' No, no, I had never. To which he replied, 'Dude, get the pistachio Baklava, it is INCREDIBLE. Made fresh, soo good'.
I went down to the first floor (that's right, I work in the same building, be envious!) and went to Cafe View.
Atmosphere: 10/10. Lovely cafe! New, top-of-the-line machines*, wonderful decor, ample seating. I assume - I'm not up to the latest gadgetry of cafe-ness. Everything looked impressive and 'brand-spanking' new.
Prices: 10/10. Prices are fantastic for the quality and quantity of the food.
Quality: 10/10. I ordered a Chicken Cesar Wrap and, of course, that fabled pistachio Baklava (yes, that one - the one spoken of in reverence). The Chicken Cesar Wrap was fresh, delicious and was fantastically prepared. The Baklava... yeah... Oh My Gooses! It was flaky, sweet and a delight to enjoy. My favorite nut is Pistachio, followed closely by Pecan. Pecan Pie is my favorite dessert. Move over Pecan Pie. You've been dethroned!
Service: 12/10. Moustafa is indeed a wonderful human being. Asked me my name, greeted with such positive vibes, apologetic that I had to wait (3 minutes because there were two orders ahead of mine). Completely fantastic. Stephanie (I hope I'm spelling it correctly) was a delight as well. Informative, helpful and mirrored the same positive vibes.
Cleanliness: 10/10. Impeccably maintained food prep and common areas.
Are there other categories? Like I said, I don't write reviews: 10/10.
Overall, my experience was phenomenal. I CANNOT RECOMMEND CAFE VIEW ENOUGH!
Bet you've never heard someone say this before: "I hope I have more meetings that cause me to not be able to go home for lunch"
7/5 stars, will be dining there (and dining IN this time) again FOR SURE.
(wouldn't it be funny if I accidentally selected 1 star? Boy would my...
Read moreI am appalled to know that they have changed owners on this place. Appalled because the new owners have basically destroyed the concept. I came in as usual and ordered the same thing I would order normally. A spinach feta omelette and what it was the best baklava in the area. But something was off from the very moment I stepped into the shop. The omelette was very sad and overcooked. The coffee is still good, after all it is kind of hard to miss on that if they are using the same brand as the previous ownership. The baklava on the other hand, was one of the worse I've had. The owner selected it from a tray that obviously was an old batch when she had a fresh baked sheet right next to it. I did not mention anything because I' have been to this place before and I trusted they know what they were doing, based on all my previous visits. The baklava was stale, and not a single trace of pistachios or flavor. I felt mislead because they continue to advertise the Turkish pistachios and the wonderful care for customers that Mustafa and Bahar had, which was authentic and genuine. This one was not, and thats when I knew something was wrong. So I asked my waitress Angelica who by the way was super sweet, if there was a change in the ownership, which she confirmed. We chatted for a bit until the new owner came in and abruptly interrupted us calling her, I need your help! I could tell she got a little nervous. The whole situation was very rude. I am definitely not coming back or recommending this place. I really wish I could find the previous owners because I think of that baklava...
Read moreAbsolutely delicious! My boyfriend and I went to this hidden gem for our anniversary breakfast. Got the croissant breakfast egg and cheese sandwich with added turkey bacon and my boyfriend got the same But with turkey sausage instead. They were so delicious, the croissants were so fresh, perfect combo of crispy and soft. Also got their pistachio baklava and oh my goodness it was the BEST I've ever had. My boyfriend also got a brownie, that was delicious but we didn't finish because it was very rich. And lastly I got the white mocha raspberry latte with oatmilk. It was not that sweet, if you really like coffee taste then you would like it, but I thought it would be sweeter. After I mixed the frothed oatmilk and coffee it was a little better, but I should have asked for more sweetener. Overall, lovely experience and vibe....
