On vacation with hub, camping at the Rock Crusher RV park in Crystal River Fl, we heard from several campers about wood fired pizza and restaurant iInverness, short drive from our campground. Been Pizza junkies all our lives and just had to take a drive and check things out! Nice drive out in rural Inverness about 20min but was it worth every mile we drove!! I would use your GPS or you might drive right pass it like we did! Located next to a gas station, party store but they have their own entrance. Small place with 2 tables outside and 4 tables on one side of the restaurant with bathrooms offered. The other side of restaurant is the kitchen and the wood fired stove. You have a cool view of the pizza making and the process of cooking it! You enter and place your order at the window and if lucky grab a table and they bring out your food to you. They have a refrigerator with soda, ice tea, bottled water, juice, no alcoholic beverages. You can go next door and purchase beer, wine, etc or bring your own cooler with drinks, too cool! They only take CASH!! When done eating, put your leftovers in a box and take it home for breakfast! Pizza for breakfast, yes please!! Everyone is so darn friendly and nice, very casual and they play 70’s, 80’s music over the speaker. Make sure you start a punch card, when filled up you get any pizza of your choice!! FREE! Also you can purchase single big fold over pieces of their great New York style pizza! No delivery!! Friday they have pasta specials and sell out early. Great salads, wings, huge homemade sandwiches also! On Thursday they have double stamp on your card day for the future free pizza!! Check out this hidden gem with a cult following, if you are fussy about the crust being browned, do not come here!! That’s what Wood fired pizza is, cooked in a wood burning receptacle and people love the smoky flavor and crust/ you have been warned!!! You must give this place a try, you will turn into a Pizza Joint junkie like my hub and I!🍕Debbie and Bob,...

They make NY style pizza in a wood fired oven. Anyone who appreciates good pizza knows pizza cooked in a wood or coal fired oven just hits differently. They do have some slice offerings, and you can also get the whole pie. I've been here a couple of times now. So far, every slice I've tried was great. Fairly priced, decent sized, and they don't cheat you on the toppings. They reheat them in the wood fired oven, so they come out piping hot with that extra crispness that comes from that second bake, a trademark of good pizza sold by the slice. I especially enjoyed the slice of white pie. They also offer a 7" two topping for $7.50, which is perfectly sized for one person. They do offer sandwiches and wings as well, with pasta only offered on Fridays (the only real negative I have for this place). The dining is pretty cozy, with only a few tables, so you have to time when you go otherwise it's a full house with your order having to be to go. No soda fountain but they do have drinks in an upright cooler. Soda by the can, tea in a bottle, few other offerings, and cans of assorted San Pellegrino (good stuff). They twice bake their chicken wings in the same oven as the pizzas, and I do encourage you to try them blackened. The blackened seasoning is a dry hub with lots of great flavor, and the wings are as crispy as being fried and just as tender. When they pull them from the oven, a wonderful aroma fills the whole place (which is what prompted me to give them a try). The staff is always very friendly and courteous. A great experience overall if you find yourself near them and need to get a meal or snack. One of these days I'll remember get some pictures before I eat (it all just comes out looking and smelling so wonderful you easily forget about your phone). Went back and took...

New resident to the area and we (myself, wife and her mother)were looking for a good pizza place. Came across this and ordered two 16in pies. They ended tasting REALLY good as if it were fresh and lots of flavor and thin without taste of dough. (not "premade" like other chain restaurants mostly undercook thier pizzas) I ordered 10 wood fired Buffalo wings (never had them in that manner-1st time) and WOW they were the GOOD as good old fashioned "BBQ chicken" from the early days. (Meat fall off the bones with tender meat and right amount of crispness on skin.)

Will be back whenever we have the urge for pizza & wings. (And possibly other items)

Recommendation- 16in pies can feed 3 people EASILY, but depending on the number of people, choose wisely as there will be lots of leftovers if there are fewer people.

Only 4 stars for atmosphere (in a good way) as it's not a good spot for elderly to dine in with mobility limitations but great eats for a take out. (Space is limited and bit tight in both parking...

I was excited to try this place because of good reviews and choice of toppings and I thought it would be worth a try despite the cost. Maybe it depends on who is working that day and how they make the pizza because the one I got was NOT GOOD. It had no aroma, no garlic taste (which was one of the toppings i had them put on) and the "extra" cheese did not seem like extra cheese (see pic) and the artichoke topping was not cut up or diced at all, just put on there in whole chunks (see pic). I noticed there was NO smell to the pizza as a drove home home and usually there is with takeaway food. Just not tasty at all. Crust way too thin. Wood fired pizza? So what?! Not worth any of the extra costs for "special" toppings or wood fired. Ate a couple of slices and threw the rest away and got Dominoes instead. Order online, pizza tracker, text/email you, pay online. The pizza from Dominoes was a lot cheaper but MORE toppings, had a strong smell, and was delicious. Wont be going back to The Pizza Joint.
