Rubio's on 61 — Restaurant in Forest Lake

Went here for the first time. It used to be Mr.Large Burrito and we went several times when it was under that ownership. That place had very good food even tho the ownership was sketchy (to say the least). The inside seems very very similar, as does the set up with burrito ingredients. We were hoping it would be as good if not better than the previous place...but we couldn't even finish the food. Alot of people have said its good on local group on Facebook, so we have been wanting to try it. The chicken didn't seem cooked thoroughly, and my burrito wasn't great. The steak was tough and tasted like it had sat there for many hours, and the rice had no taste. Chipotle is better, unfortunately. I get burritos several times a week with my work schedule, and I will continue to go to chipotle since that is the only good place in town.

We live in FL and ordered take out for the first time from Rubio's. Unfortunately, if you order burgers, it comes with chips. You have to upgrade to fries, waffle fries, etc.. for more $. I Would like to see this remedied. Pricing is acceptable though for the quality of food. $80 for 4 people, which included ice-cream shakes. I recommend! Thanks for the several complimentery pieces of pumpkin pie during Thanksgiving time. The burrito was good, the chicken bowl was good. I didn't try either, but both who ate are picky eaters, so I knew. I tried both BYO burger, and can't express how GD good both were. Absolutely, the best burgers I've ever eaten! Do yourselves a FLAVOR! If you have a burger craving, give Rubio's a try, you will be hooked as well. Honestly, you'll not find a better burger anywhere! This place is a bit eclectic, but in the best way possible. The barbacoa, chicken burrito, and Philly steak sandwich were excellent. The Philly steak sandwich has a decent amount of marinade from the meat, so it probably wouldn't hold up too well for takeout, but it is definitely worth a try if you are dining in. The seasoning on everything was very impressive and flavorful. A word of warning on the burrito sauce, I thought it was amazing, but it definitely packs a fair amount of heat. Not quite Thai level 10 hot, but it is hotter than sirracha sauce. Overall, this is a wonderful place with fast and fantastic service.
