We tried this restaurant in February and though the food was excellent, we were ignored at the front hostess stand for about 15 minutes and took a very long time to be acknowledged by any wait staff who walked by us caring for other tables. We were greeted by one server who said he would take care of us and never saw him again. Finally, a server from another area came over as we were about to leave and proceeded to take care of us. (note: they were not packed and appeared to have plenty of wait and support staff).
We decided to try the restaurant again, knowing that a business can have an off night and seemed like it may have been chance that we had poor experience on the front and then again again in back, as we were eventually taken care of. We had a hard time finding a menu online (the only one had 1 appetizer, 3 entrees and several kids’ items). I thought this must be limited info not a limited menu, as what we had there previously was good and from a larger selection. So we made reservations for Fathers Day…
Again, no one at the hostess stand and we were ignored for several minutes by the staff that did walk by. The menu was extremely limited and the hostess told us this was what was available in the “off season” when we sat down. No one informed me when I called for reservations for Father’s day earlier in the week, which I feel is important information that should be provided to the customer. We were also not informed that the AC was broken when we made the reservation (we were informed by the hostess it broke the weekend before I called), nor did anyone call us from the reservation list to let us know that day. We found out by the hostess as we were sat. We were also provided only one “Father’s Day specials menu” for our party of 7 when we sat. We asked for another and the waitress said, “I don’t know if we any, I’ll have to look.”
The restaurant was a ghost town and we even commented on the empty parking lot when we pulled in. We did not stay so I cannot provide any input on the food or further service. The place is pricey, but the food we had once was very good. Looks like management could possibly improve the front end and customer...
Read moreWow, where do I even begin? Hutchinson Island Bar and Grill at Ocean Village truly redefines dining excellence in ways you can’t even begin to imagine.
First off, who doesn’t love a scenic 20-minute drive to nowhere? It’s the perfect prelude to what I can only describe as a masterclass in mediocrity. The ambiance is unforgettable — tables that might have been cleaned before the sun came up, and service that moves at a pace you’d expect if you were dining in a black hole.
The burger? An absolute triumph. I asked for medium, and what I received was a beautifully charred slab of disappointment in an untoasted bun. Pure culinary art. The dry-aged steak? A masterpiece of restraint. Why bother seasoning it when you can experience the true essence of beef, unadulterated by spices or flavor? The Oscar Grouper? A stroke of genius. Over-salted to perfection, because who wants subtlety when you can have a flavor bomb that screams, “I am the ocean!”
And let’s talk about the drinks! Why settle for high-end liquor when you can enjoy a fantastic selection of basic, bottom-shelf booze that transports you right back to your college years — but with a premium price tag? Genius.
But the real highlight? Watching the owner — in all his glory — strut into the restaurant, clearly three drinks deep, and add an extra layer of charm with his slurred speech and slightly off-kilter walking. If you’ve ever wanted to experience a dining room with all the professionalism of a local dive bar, look no further. The experience was absolutely elevated by his unique brand of management.
In conclusion, Hutchinson Island Bar and Grill has it all: overpriced food, over-the-top flavors, and a true masterclass in how to run a business when you’re too drunk to care. The dining experience I didn’t know I needed.
Go ahead and give it a shot — it’s definitely worth it if you’re into chaos served with a side of...
Read moreAwesome location and food! Friendly devoted staff! I’ve gone several times and working my way through the menu. I’ve dined at every restaurant on the island and this has quickly become a favorite. From what I have had so far: best muscles (plump), best French fries I’ve had on the island. I had the Cesar Salad with Steak Tips added on. Fresh and tasty salad with the right amount of delicious dressing. I’m originally from New England and used to seeing steak tips on the menu but I don’t see them here except at this restaurant. And they were cooked perfect, tasty and tender. The bacon wrapped scallop sandwich is an innovated dish that’s even better than it sounds. I try to sneak a peek at every dish I haven’t tried as it’s going by. They all look amazing. Can’t wait to try the corned beef...
