5-star food …. I don’t think so.
The restaurant is small. The tables are packed in tightly together. When we entered there was quite a crowd. The menu is on the wall. It is advisable to visit the restaurant’s Facebook page before you go to the restaurant. It will save time and save your neck, from trying to read the menu that is mounted up on the wall. There are helpful pictures on one of the walls. Order and pay at the counter. The food is delivered to the table.
My wife had the Chinese Chicken. Stewed chicken pieces smothered in a seasoned gravy over a big pile of rice with a little cabbage on the side. The gravy tasted like it may have been seasoned with Chinese Five Spice. The meat was good and it tasted fine, but overall boring and not recommended. I had the Super Bowl. All the meats on this bowl were good. Bright red Char siu style chicken, good tender beef slices, and excellent tempura fried shrimp. All stacked on a big pile of rice noodles with a few slices of cabbage on the side. The noodles were in a sweet brown sauce that I didn’t care for. The fried shrimp is delicious and recommended. The food is not impressive enough to get me back in the restaurant or even recommend it over some of the other excellent Asian restaurants In Ft. Smith. Diamond Head 2, a version of average Chinese food.
Then there are these repurposed flip top Parmesan cheese containers (think Kraft Parmesan cheese bottles.) There are one or two of them on every table filled with a nasty looking sauce concoction. The top of the bottles are open, and they have a spoon stuck in them to serve yourself up whatever that is inside. You would have to be a brave soul to actually use the sauce. I’m surprised this gets past the...
Read moreMy family always tries to get Asian food on Christmas Eve, and today we found Diamond Head through google, and are so thankful we did! The second I walked in, I was greeted very kindly and helped right that moment. Both of the people I interacted with were so friendly and welcoming, it felt homely to be there. We got the beef broccoli and what they recommended for their option closest to General Tso’s, to-go. After we finished ordering, we looked around at all of the amazing decor—— lots of stuff showing off the many years they’ve been in the River Valley, local businesses cards and art on the table tops was especially neat to check out. While we were looking at the pictures they have up of their menu items, the person who took our order made some excellent looking suggestions for next time.
On top of all that phenomenal customer service, the food was truly, mouth-wateringly, delicious. Not only were the portions generous for what we paid, the food was incredible, and fresh. The person taking my order was distinctly kind about the couple of changes to the food we got, and everything was 100% correct. They even loaded us up on sauces, utensils, etc.—- they even slipped in a couple of egg rolls. Which was a Christmas miracle all its own. I can’t wait until we get to go...
Read moreHonestly, I thought this place was a strip joint because of the name, but I was surprised to see it's an actual restaurant. I've delayed my visit here for years and finally went. I had high hopes that this place was a hole-in-the-wall place with delicious food, but was utterly disappointed at the dishes we ordered. The customer service was cold but attentive, but during the 45 minutes we were there they had a lot of regulars. I ordered the pho with steak and got the sesame chicken for my son. The pho broth was nothing extraordinary and they threw in slices of beef topped with onions and herbs. The sesame chicken was most disappointing because the sesame sauce was literally a brown gravy. They sprinkled a ton of sesame seeds on top of the gravy covered breaded chicken. It tasted very much like a chicken fried steak with gravy and not sesame chicken.
They definitely have their regulars but I would not recommend this place for quality Asian food. The inside of the restaurant is tight and the decoration is a mix of collected items from...
