I am giving it two stars for now because we went during their grand opening and it was just totally chaotic. Plus, it happened to be 5 de Mayo so it was just that more packed. I used to be in the restaurant business and if you're a Mexican restaurant, you MUST be prepared to be extremely busy on 5 de Mayo, let alone on Grand Opening Day (eek). I can tell they were very unorganized. It was EXTREMELY hot. No waitress acknowledged us in the 45 minutes that we were there. The reason I gave them 2 stars is because I know how it can be and because there was a gentleman (maybe the owner) that came and talked to us for a bit and apologized for the wait. I know they were trying and I will be going back to give them another chance on a "normal day". Sad we didn't get to try their food. We ended up just leaving because we were hungry and we couldn't take the heat. They had free valet, mariachis and dancing horses that day but I would definitely recommend to focus on quality and customer service first over those other things. I have a feeling they will get it together. Update 6/6/23: we went again and this time we were waited on! :) it was a Saturday and it was what you can expect at any restaurant on a Saturday evening. Their menu is pretty limited, I have to say. We tried ordering the âhandheldsâ but was told they didnât have it. I ordered a shrimp cocktail and it wasnât bad but definitely have had better. A cocktail is normally served with saltine crackers but I was told they didnât have any. The waitress offered to bring me tostadas but ended up bringing them 20 min later. Ordered a Mexican Mule as a drink and while it looked pretty generous, it barely had any alcohol (and I am a lightweight so for me to say it was light- it was light). That was $14.99, if Iâm not mistaken. The drink my husband ordered though, was good. The birria tacos were decent. All in all, the ambience is nice. I think this place is more for drinks than for a good dinner and thatâs ok. Theyâre open late so it would be a decent spot to have some drinks if youâre out late. Will keep at two...
Read moreThis place is probably better off as a Bar and Appetizers. My order was to-go but I did go inside and the atmosphere seems pretty cool. What disappointed me was the service and the portions of the food. I ordered a Taco plate which came with 3 SMALL tacos, the Birria Tacos which were more like folded taquitos in my opinion and didnât come with the birria consomĂ©, Both came with Rice and what I would describe as franks and beans but it tasted okay. I also got a tortilla soup To-go which was smushed in the bag and theyâd already dumped everything in it so the strips were soggy.
The reason for the 2 stars is mainly the issue with ordering. I ordered online for curbside pick up, got there about 5 min after it was to be ready, only for me to call in there and they didnât have it because their printer was having issues. Which okay I can forgive that. The lady told me theyâd get it and have it ready in 10 minutes. Cool, I have to go grab someone elseâs order which took about 15 minutes. Came back and itâs still not ready, I sit there for another 10-15 minutes waiting and the nice valet guy catches a server who came outside to ask her to check on it for me. She comes back out and says they need me to come inside, why? To sign the receipt. Why offer curbside if you wonât bring the receipt out to be signed then? Itâs so busy in there it seems like itâs easy to get missed in there. There was a guy wanting to sit at the bar and there was no seating so he was pretty much SOL. The food tasted okay, but Iâd still prefer Los Molcajetes when spending $40-$50 on a meal where Iâm going to get better service. This place is fairly new so hopefully they can step it up, but donât know Iâll be back...
Read moreNo one greets you and there's no sign to say wait to be seated or please sit yourself. A waitress walks by and doesn't acknowledge me. I raise my voice and to ask if I'm supposed to sit myself. The patrons next to me say " thats what we had to do". Waited for about 8 minutes and finally got chips and salsa. A big guy with mustache and beard came over and asked " how's the chips and salsa?". I asked if they had salsa a bit more spicy. And just wanted to know if the chips were always served greasy. He said I'll get you some fresh ones. That never happened, nor did he ever come back to check and see if I was served any fresh chips. I ordered beef tacos . I originally asked for shrimp, but they were out. The beans and rice were great. The corn tortillas for the tacos were greasy. I asked the waitress for more water and she said ok and proceeded to clean a table. 10 minutes later no water. Yet she has just served more Water to two tables. She walks up to the table next to me with the pitcher of water and cleans off that table and leaves to the back. There's no one but me at the tables by the entrance wall. I finished eating and she comes back to offer the water. How can someone keep an apatite with sorry service, a manager (I'm guessing or owner. He didn't say) who lies and is obviously not at all as concerned as he portrays himself. What's with the greasy chips and corn tortillas? This is a sorry way to start a business. Very disappointed and a waste of my time and...
