This was my first experience at Topgolf. The majority of what was lacking in my experience was due to the customer service. First I will make one note about the atmosphere... At least 3 times during our visit, the employees did a congo line with someone at the front trying to sell dessert and the employees that followed wearing inflatable animals. Not only did the additional Bluetooth speaker make it frustratingly loud for us to talk and enjoy our dinner, but the concept seemed better suited to a kids birthday party or perhaps teen event when the clientele present this night seemed mostly adults. This was a distraction to the experience.
For the customer service, it started with the waiter. He asked for our drink order then after dropping them, instead of asking for our food order, he immediately walked away and back to talking with his coworkers. Since we had booked our Bay a month in advance, even though we arrived an hour early to eat first, all delays were eating into our time. We had to flag him down to call him back to take our order. Then our food did not come out as ordered. We didn't have to send anything back, but it did cause further delay in asking for more items. Then near the end of our meal, we asked if we pay now or if we can wait until the end. He told us we could wait until the end. We left the table and went to our Bay then double checked with other staff near our Bay.
We were told we had to pay first so two from our party of 4 went downstairs to pay and we continued to wait, delaying our booked play time. During this wait, our server came back up and told us to pay. I told him members of our party were already downstairs trying to pay. He looked confused and went back down. The gameplay itself when we got to it was fun and I would consider giving it another chance in the future. The food tasted good but I felt it was about $1-2 per plate overpriced. It also seemed during play that our remaining minutes appeared at times to jump 4-5 minutes less instantly. The final challenge came when 15 minutes before our time was up, a staff member interrupted our game asking us to close out. She did explain this was company procedure, but I felt it delayed and disrupted our game time as we were hurrying to finish. She should have politely apologized for the interruption and asked how we wanted to divide the bill then left the receipts, explaining that we can pay with the QR code and finish our time in peace. She ended up bringing the receipts back but didn't tell us about the QR code. We were waiting and watching her go to other bays but never come back to take our cards. We had to ask then be told to pay on the QR codes, taking further unnecessary time. I would recommend better training and streamlining of this process especially since everything is so scheduled and...
Read moreThis 4 is based on my experience with my family--the fun we had playing Top Golf. I had never been to TG before, but my sons (and accompanying friends ) had. I went in completely blind, ready to take on the user experience and I have to say--I was very confused, even up through my first game (we played two). I walked in and I was greeted--very good introduction. I was asked if I had been before, I explained I had not, but my sons had and they had memberships. I had no idea what a membership entailed. I was told to meet the cashier who would set us up to play. I reminded him we were waiting (5 mins) for the rest of our party, he said that was okay. I walked to the cashier, he asked if we had a membership, I said my son did, he didn't clarify whether I should/should not, and I reminded him we were waiting on more people. By the time he understood what I was saying, and I understood what starting the game meant, he told me to hurry upstairs because we were already on our time. I didn't appreciate starting a game before I even understood what we were doing. I went upstairs, met my cashier, told her I had never been before, and halfway through her explanation, another waitress came in and said, to her, let me explain to him. She started the game, still saying, our time had begun, even though our party had not arrived. She said we could get a membership after, or sign-up the others when they get here. When my friends arrived, I suppose, being regular's, they were disappointed their names/accounts were not in. To me, never playing before, this all seemed simple, but apparently to people who have memberships, this is important. We played anyhow. We ordered food, and that was a bit chaotic, I think, because several people delivered the food, as opposed to who we ordered from, so some people got Root Beer, when they ordered Dr Pepper and some got the sweet tea, when they wanted unsweetened--at the same table. Overall, being new, I was pleased with how many people we got to interact with, but not satisfied with how little communication we had, to help me understand and better enjoy the user experience. Next time, because I will go back, I won't let anyone tell me where to go, who to see, how to check in, etc., I guess I will be assertive and say, I will see a cashier when I'm ready (so time doesn't start) and clarify our food/drinks more clearly when we order, and make them start over if they don't know/remember what was ordered and lastly, don't talk to anyone until my entire party is ready...as the clock is ticking once you do. Outside of that, my boys and my party enjoyed the game play...that was...
Read moreOur party of nine arrived for a reservation at 10:00pm that was made at 7:20pm. We waited forty minutes for our two booths to be ready so we went to the bar. We all had a drink and then went to our booths when they were ready. Our server was GREAT, but after ordering drinks from the bar through our waitress, we were approached by who seemed to be the supervisor. She told us that she was not allowing our server to bring us our drinks “because we hadn’t ordered food.” So we ordered food at her request. We asked our server if we could get our drinks and she said “I’m so sorry, they are making me wait until your food is out before I can serve your drinks.” At this point a few of our group members got a little huffy because we did what they asked and it still wasn’t good enough…they were never disrespectful to the server and never got loud or hateful to the supervisor. After the waters were calming down, a lady in a red shirt rudely approached our table and introduced herself like this: “my name is ____and I am the “big boss” there seems to be an issue.” Of course, that made everyone mad again…so a member of our party dropped his head back in disbelief that the issue was being brought up again. The “big boss” looked at him and said “you can roll your eyes or do whatever but the rules are the rules. I can tell you are clearly upset because of the way your face looks (while waving her hand in her face) but there are two options here…you can either adhere to the rules or you can leave. Someone in our party said “well how are you “cutting us off” after one drink?” And the “big boss” proceeded to say “by observation….because y’all are loud, rowdy and it’s obvious what yall did before yall got here.” Implying that she knew that we had been drinking….which we hadn’t. Because of her terrible attitude, we decided it was time to leave. Upon leaving, we requested to pay for our food so that we could tip our server in which she responded “oh that’s not necessary.” Excuse me? How is it her decision as to whether we tip our server or not?! I believe the “big boss” was named Brittany! Terrible, awful attitude. Will not...
