My friend & I visited today. Normally would give a much higher rating but NOT AFTER TODAY!! Friend & I patiently waited our turn in line. After both giving the person collecting our ID's, she went back to move her car up close to the front door as someone was about to leave. I noticed that the door attendant was calling people up to the door to recieve their food boxes OUT OF THE ORDER THE LINE BEFORE HIM WAS. It was COMPLETELY UNFAIR! I also noticed he seemingly "shuffling" the order the ID's were in. SEVERAL people behind me had arrived after me but were called to p/u their food BEFORE myself or my friend.

I normally would not have minded this. However today with all the heat & humidity & having to wear a mask it made it extremely difficult for me to breath as I am both Asthmatic & have Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). I also have a great heat intolerance.

Additionally my friend & I had just come from her Cardiologist and the news was NOT good. She is having only 20-25% function of her heart and has become elegible for a defibrilator. Thankfully her heart WAS enlarged but has now come down in size to what's considered more "normal".

She was becoming terribly overheated and asked if she could please sit just inside the door in the cool air before she passed out. She was emphatically told "No, it's not allowed." She was still waiting for her food šŸ“¦ so asked for her ID back and was then told she NEVER GAVE IT TO THEM. We both insisted she had and at that point they realized altho DENYING IT, that they had LOST her ID!! She asked it she could at least get her šŸ“¦ of food while she waited for them to find it to which they GRUDGINGLY did. Once all patrons were served, it finally became apparent when having ONE ID still left that; they had GIVEN BACK HER ID TO THE WRONG PERSON!!!

Explain to me please how even if she & the other woman somewhat facially favored each other supposedly, how you could confuse the two women when A) My friend is approx 5'10" tall & the woman who recieved her ID is only 5'2" tall!!!! B) My friend is Caucasian, the other woman is Hispanic???? And C), my friend is approx 56-57yo and the other woman is born in 1940, making her SEVENTY YEARS OLD!!!!

Accident? Perhaps. Unacceptable??? TOTALLY!!!!!

We got a photocopy of the other woman's ID, tried to do a search for her phone # unsuccessfully I might add, DROVE OVER to the address on the DL only to be told she must not live on that property as they had no idea as to whom she is!!! Now my friend who has ZERO INCOME (since being out of work since roughly Nov-Dec '19) or gasoline for that matter will have to find a way to retrieve it IF it gets returned to the food bank. She will also have to deal with the inconvience of NOT being able to p/u certain medications that require ID, driving w/o her liscensce with her, filing certain paperwork that requires identification be submitted with it, as well as the potential it's further lost and she becomes a victim of identity theft!!!

We were told the gentleman at the door was a volunteer, a new worker but that's no excuse!! Whomever mans that door needs to ATTENTIVE & RESPONSIBLE!!!

PEOPLE, PAY ATTENTION!!! THIS COULD HAVE...

I had community service hours to fulfill and I did a lot of it at this food bank. I can’t believe some of these comments! This place gives more per person or family than any other place I’ve ever seen ( I haven’t went to a bunch of them, but I have been to a few) and even if there are places that might give more, the whole time I was packing their boxes I was thinking how happy I would have been to receive something like this if I were in need. People on here have complained about quantity (but they are basing it on what this same food bank USE to give them - maybe they don’t understand that more people need help now -so guess what? They get a little less) They have complained about quality of food and expiration dates. ( I was IMPRESSED with the quality of food - those boxes have better stuff in it than what I buy! And I’ve NEVER been to a food bank that the food isn’t close to expiration-that’s WHY they get donated people!!!)) The staff there works hard and the sheer number of people they feed is incredible. It’s sad that the people with their hands out also have their mouths open - revealing their lack of gratitude and complete entitlement. You want to complain about FREE FOOD? Get a job. Most of you (90% of you in fact )already have SNAP - and if your STILL complaining about what everyone hands you for free, your best ā€œrevengeā€ on them would be to find a way to SUPPORT YOURSELF and if that’s impossible- that’s fine - that’s why help exists, but maybe feel grateful that free food of ANY kind is a blessing. Do you realize how many other countries wouldn’t give you a dime? If you’re reading this - if you live in America -you’re already blessed.. God Bless anyone reading this. Now let’s go Bless others as our Father...

They are very organized and are looking to get people the things they need in an orderly fashion. They always make sure that everyone is treated fairly. Also, volunteers make for certain that all available extra items are positioned in an area that is visible from the enitre spance of the line, and an announcement is made so that all may hear. If they see you weren't able to hear what was said volenteers come to you personally and explain had been announced. They even make sure everyone stay cool in this super hot Texas weather we have! They do so by providing awnings and large (beach) umbrella's along about 95 to 98 percent of the line depending on the number of people waiting. Representatives from the medicaid/food stamps office are always on site as well to assist those who might qualify for services. The volenteers are always very kind and helpful, but straight to the point no funny buisness when it comes to taking care of everyone and making sure everything remains safe, orderly and time efficient. They are truly a blessing to all those that they come into contact with monday through thursday! God bless them and may they reach more starving people than...
