Black Hawk Pizza — Restaurant in Four Corners States

I’d really love to give this place a 5 but I can’t. Gotta stay true to me.

The service was wonderful, the owner amazing, they seemed really busy and I can see why (I think the only pizza place in Black Hawk?

So that said it he pizza itself is mediocre at best. Is it pizza and you’ll still get your craving fulfilled? Yup!

A few small things could turn it from mediocre to good though (pictures will explain). So this is made on a smaller deck oven and their ability to get that crust edge color to what they did is impressive. However it goes in on a pan so the under carriage was quite pale. I attempted to fix such when I got home and threw it in my wood fire oven a bit. This did indeed improve such (second 2 pictures).

Unfortunately their sauce was pretty bland but did its job. Needs a tad more sugar and a lot more garlic (some black pepper too).

That said, any pizza place who has GREEN CHILI on their toppings list will get my business when I’m in area.

After an afternoon of hiking with 2 children, we decided to stop for pizza before the hour long ride home to Centennial. I called in my order ahead so the pizza would be ready for the hungry children (and adults), but my call dropped in the canyons when I lost the cell signal. A few minutes later they texted me back to confirm my order and let me know the pizza would be ready in 30 minutes! 10/10 for customer service. Then they greeted us when we arrived with coloring activity sheets for the kids, full size jenga, and bean bag toss on the patio with a beautiful view of the mountains, moon, and starts. We were leaving Hidee Gold Mine Tours in central City and i-70 was backed up so we decided to come down the canyon and try the new pizza place on the way. We caught the owner Mike flipping pizzas and had a great time talking with him over a pie. We got the house special and had some extra to take home to see if it passed my ultimate test, is it good the next day? That's where good ingredients show through, anyone can make one taste good right out of the oven but how does it handle a reheat?
