I was super excited to try this out! Sushi in Gold Canyon? Yes please! The building looks really nice, they inherited a great location that Wahoo's invested a lot of money in to fix up. We were seated right away and noticed the place was actually very full. They had a large Happy Hour menu and we ordered some draft Sapporo’s, Gyoza and Vegetable Tempura to start. The Tempura portion is huge and delicious. The Gyoza's were crispy and very tasty! The Sapporo was nice and cold as well as fresh!
We then ordered some Ebi Sashimi, a yellow hand Roll, a Maguro hand roll, a Caliente Roll and a Samurai Roll. They brought out the food in waves which was nice, we weren't left sitting with no food. The sushi is delicious, the best we've had in the East Valley. The seaweed was super fresh and the rolls were large. The spicy tuna is amazing and the eel sauce was a nice sweet sauce that wasn't out of the bottle like a lot of places around here.
The service was very good. There were 2 hiccups, but they fixed them quickly. A server gave our Gyozas to the wrong table (it wasn't our server). Our sever fixed that quickly. The bill also had a few items not listed as happy hour, but the server quickly corrected it. For Gold Canyon, the service was remarkably fast! We will definitely be regulars here; it really...

We were so excited for a sushi place out in Gold Canyon. Unfortunately, although the servers were very kind, the service was SLOW on a Friday night with a small crowd. Our entrees (fried rice and mapu tofu) were tasteless and had clearly frozen vegetables mixed in. The appetizers we ordered never came out and finally, after being nearly done with the entrees, the server let us know the quality of one appetizer was bad (?) so it wouldn't be served. She then assured us the other appetizer was on its way, but at that point we told her to just forget it and bring the check.
When the check arrived, we were given a 20% discount for our troubles (great! Very appreciative)! What I didn't appreciate was being handed another person's credit card along with my bill. That's a very serious issue in my eyes, because a less scrupulous person could've just pocketed a credit card and walked away scott free!
Overall the food wasn't worth what we paid, even with a discount, and the service was just so bad. Looks like we are going to keep driving into the city for our Asian...
Read moreI cannot say enough about this restaurant bc they made sure everything was perfect for my birthday party order to go! Maggie even messaged me that morning to confirm what sushi & sashimi I prefer before making the order fresh to go! Her staff was also very friendly asking if we needed water or anything while we wait for our pick-up order which was very nice of them. All I can say is my family was raving about how fresh the sushi was and the taste was out of this world especially the octopus was on point which many sushi chef’s aren’t but Maggie the sushi chef/owner make it taste so good like butter! All the sushi/sashimi cuts were excellent and I honestly felt I was in Scottsdale but no more bc we have our new favorite sushi place right here in gold canyon now 😍 The cucumber salad is also a must try bc it was so light and crisp which made it so refreshing. The rolls were also on point & delicious. Check out pics to see what I ordered it was all yummy. Thank you Maggie for making my birthday...
