Just go to Kiva Koffehouse! It is incredible! Heavenly atmosphere, unbelievable views, amazing coffee, delicious food and extraordinary people with the biggest hearts!
There is a reason this coffee & food joint is getting tons of 5-star reviews! I stayed in the Kiva Kottage right below the Kiva Koffeehouse for 3 nights with my family - For a few days I was in heaven! I wish I knew long ago that heaven was so fairly priced. With the privacy, comfortability, coziness, class, solitude, hominess, fresh coffee, scrumptious food and the most generous warmhearted people to top it off, the cost to stay here one night should be triple what it actually costs! Get any kind of coffee concoction and get any kind of food - pastries are to die for and food is just delish.
Beyond the wondrous views, creative architecture and tasty treats is the family that runs this place; this is the true beauty! They took care of us in such a way that made us feel like we were the only ones there, yet, they were extremely busy. They made us feel right at home. I felt instantly comfortable being there. Sarah, the head honcho (manager), runs such a smooth operation with the help of her staff. Unfortunately, I rarely meet people like this and this is what makes this place very special. Also, whenever I saw them talk with other customers, they treated them the same way. Simply amazing.
This place is so thoughtfully put together... uniquely designed to not only showcase the beauty of the incredible Escalante mountains, but to compliment it... with an extraordinary atmosphere that gives people a peaceful, joyous place to relax/refuel abetted by a kind of customer service that isn't just friendly, it's like family! It is beyond a shadow of a doubt that this place required profound & relentless energy, motivation, passion and vision to build as well as...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreKiva Koffee House We stopped here on our trip around the Grand Staircase and were delighted by this beautiful coffee shop. It is set up as a semi circle with the coffee bar and kitchen at the straight end. There are wrap around floor to ceiling windows that showcase the beautiful scenery and the supporting structures are thick polished tree trunk pillars between each window. They took as much care of the landscaping and outside of the building as they did the inside and walking in the front door feels like a mini oasis in the desert. There is ample parking and the shop is ADA accessible. The shop supports local artists and there are paintings, gorgeous ceramic pottery, and Navajo style beadwork jewelry for sale. The ambiance is relaxed and enjoyable and the service is fast. We especially loved the chai tea latte which was reminiscent of a warm gingerbread cookie with the right balance of sweet and spicy. The pastries were delicious and there are gluten free and vegan options as well for various menu items. The customer service was above and beyond, and their manager Sarah was especially helpful with giving us directions to the best places in the area. Jeremy was also very kind and helpful, and overall the staff seemed cohesive, cheerful, and worked well together. If you are visiting the area this is definitely a good place to stop: for the ambience, the food, and to take home a handmade souvenir that embodies the spirit of Escalante without being touristy. Thank you Kiva Koffee House for your...

The cafƩ was nice but I was expecting the views to be a lot more dramatic. There is indoor and outdoor seating available. We drove almost 4 hours to start our day here and continue with some hikes in the area. It was nice to have this cafƩ as a part of the plan. We weren't in the mood for breakfast so we just got drinks. I had gotten coffee elsewhere earlier this morning so I was looking for something less-caffeinated. They unfortunately ran out of matcha right before we got there so I ordered a London Fog, instead. The staff was extremely pleasant and I love all of the art that is available to buy. The day became hotter as it went on, so half of the shades covered the windows to keep it cool. It was unfortunate because it impeded the sights, but a precaution you have to take in the desert, I'm afraid. We went outside to get the full picture. It was nice out there. We enjoyed our experience here. The drinks were good, and you kind of get the feeling of being a pioneer from a different time. Would definitely return if we find ourselves in...
