I recently visited Wines of Colorado and had reservations for a table on the patio downstairs, near the creek.

From the beginning of our visit, it was apparent the entire staff was on "island time". No one was in a hurry. I often noticed during our 2 hour lunch there would be no staff on the patio at all even though almost all of the tables were full. No one was around to ask a question, deliver food or drinks, take orders or provide menus. If this were a romantic, candle-lit dinner the absence of a waiter or waitress would be expected; at a family-friendly, open-air restaurant it struck me as a little odd.

After we were seated, our server handed out menus and brought us glasses of water. I asked right away if they had a gluten free menu (she said "No.", as I expected her to) and when I ordered I specifically mentioned my salad needed to be gluten free.

We ordered wine, which is when we learned they don't have a wine list, and after asking a series of questions she recommended the Plum Creek Sauvignon Blanc. It was chilled, smooth and a little tart. A perfect summer afternoon drink.

I ordered the Spinach Salad with Garlic Dressing on the side (it is an oil based dressing, not creamy) and blackened salmon. The server assured me the salad would come without croutons (which I found odd since the Spinach Salad doesn't come with croutons normally...).

Another person ordered the exact same thing, except she asked for no tomatoes. When both salads arrived, my salad had parmesan cheese (not feta, as listed on the menu) and no tomato (I didn't request it). The second salad (not specifically gluten free) had feta cheese (as listed on the menu) and the roasted red peppers were on the side.

Another person at the table ordered the Fish and Chips. They stated the fries and fish (Cod) were crispy. The fries were excellent, the fish was good, and the coleslaw was not great.

The remaining meal ordered was a Portobello Sandwich. They said it had a generous amount of toppings which made the sandwich filling and very flavorful. Although, the hummus lacks a little flavor and was hardly noticeable.

Tips for Visiting Wines of Colorado:

*Make a reservation. *Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are less busy. Friday through Monday are extremely busy (you may not get a table or a wine tasting spot without a reservation). *Wine tasting occurs at the bar only. *If dining at the restaurant, there is no wine list. You can choose a wine by starting with a tasting upstairs (away from the dining area) or by recommendation from your waiter/waitress. *If you can, I recommend sitting on the patio near the creek. The sound of the creek, birds and trees was very calming. *The Downstairs patio area (near the creek) is shaded. It was noticeably cooler than upstairs patio. The upstairs patio has a few tables, only some of them have umbrellas. *The entrance, bar area and upstairs patio appear to be wheelchair accessible. The area near the creek can only be reached by going up/down stairs. *Restrooms are labeled as women and family. Of the two bathrooms, neither was designated for men. With that said, when a person emerged from the "women's" bathroom I perceived them to be male. The sign for the women's restroom should likely be changed to...

I’m really kind of bummed that I have to leave a crappy review because the service was great. I wish I knew her name a little blonde girl super cute, Sunday. My food was amazing. The fish tacos were spectacular. my grudge is this, Let’s preface this that I’ve been in the restaurant industry for 25 years. I ran a restaurant in San Francisco that served 200 dinners a night easy on a slow night. I know how to run a Host stand and I know how to run a restaurant…. I am a single person who just moved here and does not really have any friends so when I went to check in with the hostess, she told me that they were too packed to give me a table. She said would you be OK sitting at the fire pit? My response was, is that my only option? She said yes unless you want to sit inside, so I opted for the fire pit mind you I have a ginormous brace from my thigh to my foot, which prevents me from kind Sitting comfortably, so sitting at the fire pit was extremely uncomfortable for me.. It’s too low so I had to bend my brace . So a table where I could’ve sat in a chair would’ve been great instead of looking like an ass on a couch by myself. I know exactly how a hostess should seat. I know about seat timing, server rotations, I know about kitchen timings. There is nothing you can tell me about my experience that was acceptable when it pertains to seating. The two 4 tops in front of me never sat the entire time that I was there for over an hour. When I left there was seven open tables. So obviously I could have sat at a table. I was alienated because I was a party of 1 and that is unacceptable and it really sucks because I really really loved the place. I was honestly too embarrassed to walk out, I should have, because the way I was treated was unacceptable. I totally understand if you’re slammed saving a four top for a four top but when you’re not slammed And you have open tables, it was rude unacceptable and humiliating, and even the people next to me asked if I was ok…it was so awkward! Like I had a disease, just sitting by myself on the couch when there were open tables that We’re obviously not being safe reservations because they never sat. It was really a humiliating experience. My server was amazing. My food was spectacular. The ambience atmosphere fantastic, I ordered food to go. I tipped my my server 20% and I’ll probably never be back which really sucks because it’s literally 20 minutes from my house and I have a lot out out of town guests that a restaurant people that would absolutely love that place but now I’m mad. I loved it, but that was really really really hurtful. I cried in my car, just so you know. Think twice before you label people and alienate them little...

So this review is for the experience we had at Wines of Colorado. We had a great experience 3 weeks prior to this dinner and our friends from Germany were excited to dine with you upon their visit to Colorado.

I made reservations for EIGHT for the 18th of July. No one was added, we were 8 people. Six adults and two kids!!! We all wanted to drink so we took an Uber to the restaurant.

When we we arrived our table was not ready, so we had to wait 15 minutes which was okay. When our table was ready the receptionist took us to the outside by the creek. The table was NOT ready. The table was for SIX people not EIGHT! The chairs were all wet, so one of the servers came with a towel and wiped the chairs. And we sat very cramped at a table for 6. The waitress Balina arrived and taking in the situation she added another table and now we had room. She asked us if we wanted blankets since it was a little chilly outside, we happily took the blankets, which were damp from the afternoon showers and within 20 minutes our clothes were also wet.

She took our drink and appetizer orders and every adult (6) at our ordered the wine flights. Then our appetizers arrived and we noticed that there was no flatware at the table, we told the server and he grabbed 2 sets from another table and gave them to us and promised us he would get more, which he didn’t. As most of our food were finger foods we did not complain much. When our food arrived, not together but very far apart, we again were without silverware, as the few we had were taken away with our empty plates from the appetizers. One of our friends from Germany had ordered the meatloaf dish, and as there was no silverware he was not able to eat it. We again complained to our server and he hurried inside. Our waitress came out and asked if we needed anything, and we said silverware. Needless to say that the meatloaf was cold when the silverware finally came.

I was not aware of this at the time or I would have requested another dish to be prepared.

Upon delivering the silverware we also ordered more wine as ALL of our glasses were empty. Later on our friends said they would have liked to try more wines if the waitress would have come more often.

Our friends came from Germany and had a horrible experience at your restaurant. They should have offered to seat us inside, as they clearly were overwhelmed outside, although there was only one other table occupied. And for that we paid over $400. I’m still embarrassed by this...
