My daughter’s baby shower was held in The Barn April 2nd. I had several telephone conversations with the event planner detailing decor, seating and menu options. The decor was above and beyond expectations and my daughter was “over the moon” thrilled that every detail was perfect. 4 tables were set up with 10 place settings when the final head count I provided was 41 and it was agreed upon to have enough seats for 45 in the event a couple more guests attended. I gave up my seat and stood as they scrambled to set up more seating after the party had started. The brunch buffet was to include tossed salad, fruit salad, Quiches & Served Omelets, breakfast sausage & bacon, home fried potatoes, roasted vegetable, assorted muffins & pastries. The bowls of salad and fruit salad were insufficient in size for 40 guests and were not replenished in a timely manner as many waited or were overheard stating that they did not have any salad. There was no bacon or omelets and one kind of muffin was served. Quiches were depleted quickly with no omelets being served and were also not replenished quickly. The mimosa bar had unopened bottles of champagne which were twist off caps but guests were unaware and waited for someone to open and or were unable to enjoy a mimosa. When these issues were emailed to the event planner as feedback, I was presented with excuses of short staff and food shortages. I don’t think it’s a reasonable explanation that their staff was too busy to provide the omelets as promised. If they knew that ahead of time, we should have been made aware. Another quiche does not seem like a substitution to make without a discussion and at least an apology. To say that they couldn’t provide the bacon as promised but assumed we’d be okay with it, without a discussion and apology in the moment, is also poor customer service. Not everyone likes sausage so a choice would have been preferable. I was disappointed that we did not receive the full menu items for which we paid. If one of your criteria is going to be that you have to use their food service, you need to be able to provide what you promise for better customer service. I think the customer service was lacking in general and the explanation was as well. It seemed that my complaints were viewed as unreasonable. FYI the only facilities were located in the main dining building not accommodating for mobility...
Read moreI decided to give my business yet again to the Rising Sun Inn after having two events in the past with them they seemed perfect for my daughters 1st birthday.I called back in February to book the event & was told to call in May to set menu, color of napkins ect. Its May.I made 1st call in an attempt to get a hold of the event planner on a Sunday as I know they are primarily open on weekends, she was not in.I was told to call back on Wednesday of the next week. Call back when I was told that she was unavailable. I was told to call back on Thursday before 1pm I called back on Thursday before 1pm & she was available. I was put on hold while the employee went to find her.The call ended so I called right back & said I was just on the phone looking for the event planner but I think I was accidentally hung up on. It was the event planner her name is Teresa, this time that pick up. She snapped on me for "calling to much" I explained to her that I only called two other times then this one over the course of two weeks I also reminded her that she had told me to call back in May. She yelled at me that her children have been sick as if that is an excuse for her rudeness. She also threatened to cancel my event. She would not let me get a word out and I have no idea why I was treated this way. She ened up emailing my Dad, who was not the paying customer and canceling my event for "a distaste of the establishment", on my part. She claims that I made comments about the establishment to her while she was barking at me. Yet when my father asked what was said ,she could not recall what "i had said"Teresa is very immature and rude. A very childish adult that is in charge of things is a bad mix. I'm actually quite happy she canceled I had already had invitations out and would of just sucked up that she treated me this way to be unproblematic.Since she did it for me by taddling untrue events to my father like a child . I had no choise but to send out change of venue cards. Now I am working with a venue that treats me like a customer and it's very happy to work with me. They also have there big people paints on. Teresa should not be representing the Rising Sun inn with her lack of...
Read moreHIGHLY DISAPPOINTED. I made Mother's Day reservations for 6 people plus my 1 1/2 year old in a highchair 3 weeks prior to Mother's Day for 11:30 am. A week and a half prior, we had an additional family member who recently lost her mother add to our reservation. I called the restaurant immediately and unfortunately, the only time slot available for that many people for BRUNCH was 1 pm, last seating would be 1:30. When we arrived promptly at 1 pm, our table was not ready and was told to wait about 5 minutes. At 1:23 pm, we were finally seated and waited another 10 minutes for drink order. Then we were allowed to the buffet. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT. The buffet consisted of 2 very small tables, one labeled hot and one cold. NO food was labeled. An additional table off to the side for dessert was next to the staff (who knows if he was a chef?) tended omelet station. Their idea of a chef carved ham station was a small tray table with a heated lamp over a plate of sliced ham. I assume after 1 pm NOTHING was refilled. HALF if not more of the items listed on their Mother's Day flyer were NOT on the buffet. I posted a picture of the flyer that they advertised. The seafood Alfredo was completely picked over with no seafood- only essence of seafood flavor. The roasted Caribbean chicken was replaced by basic breaded chicken strips. There was nothing even close to what resembled salmon, buffalo and turkey. Since they are known for their American buffalo, it would have been nice to try that for a buffet costing $22.95 per person. I was so embarrassed in front of my guests for suggesting and booking the reservation at the Rising Sun Inn. To top it off, when I received the check, they charged me for children's portion ($12.95) for my 1 1/2 year old that ate one slice of brown pineapple. Needless to say, even though I am moving locally to the area, I will NOT be returning to The...
