Went there today because looking for a taco/burrito place near to grab some lunch. Read the reviews and seems to have a lot of positive remarks/ reviews. So figured I give the place a try. ( I did see remarks about taco being about $3, they happen to be $3.50 by this time of review). Besides the price everything else seemed good enough to try them out gor first time. I can only review on food I was given on this first and most likely only order. I ordered 3 steak tacos, 1 burrito and 16oz side of rice. I started with my tacos, looked good. They have a bigger ratio of lettuce on then I would care for, but I didn't know what is normal on them, just more than what I would prefer. First taco I ate had a few more crunchy/ burnt steak pieces, but maybe for benefit of doubt it happened to be just the first one. I aye the last two and they both had a generous amount of crunchy/ burnt steak pieces. Time for the steak burrito, maybe this would be different. First few bites was good. Then the rest was same as tacos. I couldn't finish... too many crunchy/burnt pieces for my liking. Last was the rice. That was bland but the hot sauces they gave took care of that.
In the end, if your taste is for burnt pieces of steak pieces then not a bad place to go. I won't be returning myself. The price point is pretty high for street size tacos, so that is a breaking point for future return.
The service good. Clean looking sit in joint. Maybe my order was a one time fluke, I don't know and won't know. Maybe it's usually better than what I was served.
Total bill for (3) steak tacos, (1) steak burrito and 16oz rice cost me $21 and some change. Something to consider...$3.50 for taco. Just my personal experience on this...
Read moreThe sign says "Authentic Mexican Food" when you walk up to this strip mall storefront restaurant. When you first walk in you know this place is for real. It was raining, so the traffic was light. The cook was resting his chin on his hand, looking bored as if he was waiting to prepare food for someone. Well, there I was, ready to experience authentic Mexican cuisine and boy did he deliver! My son's steak tacos were tender and wrapped in a delicious corn tortilla. The quesadillas were made like you were visiting someone's home (Not pretty but what flavor). My wife had the chicken tacos (hard and soft shell) and was delighted by her meal. I had the veggie burrito, which was as simple as it gets, but it delivered big Mexican flavor. The salsa (mild and hot) was robust and flavorful. Most times you have to go to someone's home for this type of flavor or at least to a Mexican neighborhood. Here I am in Frankfort Square, in the south Chicago suburbs, being transported back to Mexico by these authentic flavors. If you want presentation and unique taste, go a few miles further into Frankfort and see Fat Rosie (I love that place as well). If you want pure unadulterated, down-home Mexican food, this is your place. BTW, they have the most delicious carrots and jalapenos I have ever tasted. This...
Read moreMy 2 sons and 1 daughter went into this location to get food as they generally do, ordering 4 steak tacos dine in and 6/7 more to go. Jazmine (waitress brought out the 4 tacos on the plate and handed them to my daughter. My daughter then asked for the complimentary chips and salsa that comes with them only to be told “No they are for dine in only”. I called up there and spoke to Jazmine after my kids called me only for Jazmine to tell me that she didn’t give my daughter the dine in chips that are complimentary because the 2 guys at the table ordered to go. Even after I said my daughter is 113lbs, the 4 tacos were for her and her younger brother that actually dined in so please explain why they weren’t given the chips, she decided to say “call for a manager I’m not going to argue with you”! Meanwhile, the other 2 tables of non African American customers were gladly given their chips. The employee Jazmine is racist and should not be working in an area or with consumers if she can’t treat...
