Ouch. I know they haven't been open very long, but our experience was pretty terrible. We were asked to sit in a corner booth and then another family was seated there instead, so we had to awkwardly stand and wait for the next available table. Immediately after we sat down a bus boy spilled many drinks all over the table and floor next to us. Over the course of the next hour and a half it was not cleaned up, various staff members stopping by now and then to spread it around and spill more, the mop bucket being brought out and put away 3 different times, one person knocking out a lightbulb with the mop handle. The added bonus was about 15 children under 10 years old running around our table unsupervised. By the way, not one single person in the whole building wore a mask. Our server forgot our bar order and we eventually had to ask again. One of our cokes smelled and tasted like a moldy dish rag with Fabuloso. The draft beer was flat and we sent it back for bottles. The limes were dry. The queso is just salty plastic, the chips were dark brown and overdone. We ordered 4 dishes total; one came out wrong and the other 3 were cold, dry, and gross. The burger was so tough you couldn't chew it and the mushrooms on it were raw. The fajita meat is grey and I'd bet money it came in those frozen bags from Sam's. The cheese in our quesadillas was so cold it was gummy. Everyone at our table ate one or two bites and gave up. I didn't think any place could be worse than Amigo's but...
Read moreThe food is better than average but not the best Mexican food I’ve ever had. My meal was very good though.
The chips were likely bagged (and that’s okay)
The salsa was fresh, regardless of whether it was made in house, it was tasty and had the right amount of flavor in the right places. The lime was a really nice touch.
I would recommend just having standard chips and salsa.
I’m pretty sure the queso was just Tostitos brand queso straight out of the jar and at $6 for a small bowl, it seemed pricey.
The Chile relleno was as good as I’ve had from most restaurants. It’s easy to recommend, but realistically, by the time I got my food after the chips and salsa it was hard to appreciate the rice, beans, and guacamole that came on my plate.
The servings are big, so have some self control and don’t eat too many chips.
The $3 (I think) soft taco….man 2-3 of those would be a great meal.
I definitely ordered too much food.
I felt like everything other than the queso was a excellent value. The soda was priced fairly, and served in a big cup.
Overall, part of the reason for a 5/5 was that it’s attached to the truck stop I stayed at.
If this restaurant were in a bigger city or a strip mall I probably would have given it a respectable 4/5.
Thanks for staying open late, thanks for...
Read moreIf you're looking for a nice clean Tex Mex restaurant with great food and an even better staff you found it. Went in for a late lunch around 3PM was greeted with a smile & seated almost instantly with a large tea along with warm chips & salsa. I ordered the Monterrey Chicken lunch special, the chicken was very flavorful & smothered with onions, bell pepper & loads of melted cheese (comes with mushrooms as well but I had them leave those off). The refried beans & spanish rice were a little on the bland side for me (not surprising knowing the area extremely well) but nothing a little salt & Cholula hot sauce couldn't adjust for my palate. The platter was a decent amount of food especially for the price. My waitress (Tori or Lori? sorry not 100% sure, my fault) was epic! Extremely friendly, attentive, & kept checking to see if I needed anything just the right amount even offered to get me a to go cup of tea for the road. She did such a great job I basically gave her a 50% tip. The restaurant itself was very clean with the exception of a ceiling fan that could use a dusting (which is my ONLY minor complaint but that's just my OCD), a great hidden gem...
