The Monarch Coffee House — Restaurant in Frazee

Love the coffee and vibe! Today's coffee was made perfect! I always make a point to stop in when in Frazee to support a local business. Two girls were working today. The one behind the counter couldn't seem to muster a smile even when I cracked a joke. I was the only customer in the store and I stood at the counter where you pay to wait for her to make my latte. When finished, she walks over to the tall wall and says my latte is there. Did not make sense to have me walk from where I was standing to the other side. I clearly was at the pay counter ready to receive my latte. I walked around to get my latte and told her thank you. Nothing back in return. Just silence. I turned to walk out and the sweetest voice told me to have a great day. This was the second worker there who had been cleaning the dining area. I think this is a great opportunity for business owners to teach great customer service to their employees. As well as common sense in the situation like today. The one cleaning the dining room is the ideal employee. It's your business, it's a small town....

I expected it to be busy right after school but no one was in the shop except for me and the one gal working. I ordered an iced mocha. It didn't come with whip, which should be standard on a mocha, but I wasn't going to fuss about it. She put the drink on top of a counter that was taller than me and said "here you go" and when I reached up to take the cup, it squished the drink up through the straw hole and all over my hand, my coat and the floor. I said the typical Minnesota response, "Ope! It just squirted up at me" and that I was sorry that it spilled on the floor. The gal didn't say a word to me, just walked to the back and opened a door. I thought she would come out with a rag or something so I could wipe myself off. Nope, she came out with a mop for the floor, started doing that and still didn't say a word to me. I had to grab some napkins to wipe my hands off and then left. The shop is cute, the drink was fine, but the service left...

So happy about this coffee shop being in Frazee! Lots of fun drink options and fun signature drinks as well. Yummy bakery items also available to purchase. My family purchased a caramel roll, cinnamon roll and a muffin (from a place called Henry’s? All looked homemade). All were great and not dry. I got a lavender honey iced latte and another family member got a lotus drink with coconut and pineapple. For a large drink and a medium we spent $14 which I would say is average for two drinks. Cute atmosphere as there were people enjoying drinks and food inside while we grabbed our drinks to go. Can’t wait to go back! They also had paninis, soup and pizza! No...
