Sophie's Bakery, Inc. — Restaurant in Fredericksburg

I’m so shocked how horrible my experience with Sophie was considering all these stellar reviews. I gave her an opportunity to make things right by calling and texting before leaving this review but she ignored me and when I finally did get her on the phone to share my grievances, she literally said “I’m sorry for your experience” and HUNG UP! She then texted me that she lost service? Why not call me back? Wow. How unprofessional.

I asked her to create a small strawberry buttercream wedding cake and 108 cupcakes for my ranch wedding. I supplied a reference photo for her for the small cake and what I got was so horrendously ugly I was embarrassed to display it. Unfortunately it wasn’t just the look— the cupcakes and cake both tasted terrible too. They lacked flavor and seemed like something you’d make out of a box that were a few days old.

I’ve attached the reference image for my cake and the cake I received. There was barely any decorative piping and the font was awful. Mind you, I added the rose because the words were so off center and ugly I thought it would help a little. It didn’t. 🤣

I honestly could’ve done better myself and I don’t even bake. I would’ve been open to a conversation about how to make this right but now I’ll just tell the world and anyone who will listen what happened instead.

update Your response doesn’t address the taste of the cake and cupcakes, your unprofessional attitude, or why the font and placement is different. No apology even.. I don’t require much but I’ve been in the service industry for over two decades and this is not how you deal with someone who is disappointed. It doesn’t take much to feign care and rectify a wrong with a paying customer on her wedding day. Learn how to apologize sincerely and it’ll really make a difference to people.

You also can’t tell me that the black gel makes it impossible to use cursive writing or proper placement. I had several reference images which I sent which I’ve added. All of which look the same. If it was going to cost more to look presentable, I would’ve paid that. It was my wedding after all. I wasn’t intending...

WOW!! Where to begin? Well we didn’t have the same experience as all of the other people who reviewed your service. This was atrocious! First of all the woman was very rude and told my niece that she was closing in 20 minutes and we needed to come pick up the cake ASAP or she was going to leave it outside in the refrigerator. Well I jumped in the car and hauled tail and got there to her cake in the outside refrigerator in the carport. Uhhhmmm NO MA’AM! You need to learn better customer service than that. The cake was absolutely horrible. It completely fell apart, once it was cut into. It was dry and the butter cream frosting tasted like butter and Crisco. It was AWFUL!! Stopped in just before 12 noon today, Saturday. Asked if she made chocolate cake. Yes, and not out of a box but real from scratch ingredients. She mentioned many types of fillings and that they had a sampler piece for $5. I got the sampler and took it home. Wow, real ingredients. Creamy smooth. Rich and tasty fillings. I like the chocolate mocha. I like them all. When my birthday rolls around I know where I'm going for a cake. Sophie's.
