Our family ate at Flyers Bar & Grill this evening for dinner. Disappointing is the best word to describe the experience. We called ahead to make a reservation for 7 adults and 2 children, we were shocked to learn that when we got to Flyers that they do not own high-chairs or booster seats as well as do not provide ANY kids menu options, despite that 40% of the diners had children at their tables.
The next biggest shock came when we showed up to the table and they had allotted 6 chairs for our 9 person party and made no accommodation for the remaining people of our party. Given their adversity to children, this was merely an extension of that attitude.
Dinner was slow to the table, but overall everyone was very happy with their meals. Do not order the seafood shells if you are hungry as only three small stuffed shells were provided.
The biggest disappointment arrived shortly after the bill. Nickel and dining does not even begin to describe Flyers business strategy. After looking over the bill, because we had to split it amongst the 3 families, we noticed several additional drinks and some random $1 charges. Turns out, Flyers thinks a single glass of brewed Iced Tea is worth $2, and does not garner refills. As our family is big on Iced Tea, this resulted in nearly $20 worth of Iced Tea and nearly $30 in soft drinks. One of our family members also ordered dessert togo. The togo box was an additional $1 charge.
After presenting our concerns to our waitress, who never attempted to mention these additional charges as she kept bringing drinks to the table, she simply offered to remove a few dollars off the bill and that she has mentioned to the owners to add the notice to the menu.
Overall, while the food was delicious and the location provides a beautiful on-look to the marina, the customer-gouging strategies and anti-family attitudes of Flyers leaves us looking at other options for dinner during our vacation to St. Croix.
It seems their policy is to over-charge up front and make no...
Read moreThis place gets one star for serving me the most lousy, weak piña colada that I’ve had in my entire life. It tasted like water and had no flavor. My two friends also got drinks that were bland and flavorless. Service was very slow, and the meals we ordered were bland as well. I kind of get the feeling that this place is only good for beers and watching sports, and would wager that most of their customer base is probably people who own boats in the marina or tourists passing through after kayak tours. Wouldn't recommend for actual meals or mixed drinks, and prices don’t align with the quality of the food or drinks served. In addition, when we checked our itemized receipt we had been charged for something that we didn’t get. This restaurant used to be much better when the previous owners were running it. There are much better options on St. Croix for bar food etc. So sad that this is the only option right at...
Read moreWe arrived when the restaurant opened and we were seated immediately. Our group split into two so that we could sit outside. Our waiter came and took the orders from the two tables and we got our drinks fairly quickly. The other table in our party received their food within about twenty fives minutes after they ordered. The table that I sat at waited for an hour and half from the moment we sat down to get ours. We watched other people who came in after us leave and new people come in and be seated and receive food before we got ours. We asked what the issue was and we were informed that it was the kitchen and that everyone was taking a long time to get their food. I understand that things happen but being lied to was not okay. (The table in our party ordered most of the same entrees as we did, so the kitchen wasn’t a valid excuse) overall the food was really good but the service and experience...
