Bay Area | This Bare-Bones Burmese Joint Made the Top 100?!

The food was amazing. I came recently for the first time for a large family event. The organizer said it has the same owners of her favorite Burmese restaurant in Dublin. The roti was flaky and crispy. The honey walnut prawns were also crunchy (fried) and sauced deliciously. The meat in the curries were tender. Even the shwe gyi surprised us with the size. It was moist and definitely made fresh there. The mango ice cream was also very flavorful. A lot of my family ordered the Burma Tea which the staff described like a Thai Tea. My mom who never had Thai Tea enjoyed it. At the end of the meal, we were so stuffed. I was impressed with the taste and how well cooked/ prepared all the dishes were, especially since we were a large group. Plus the staff were all so kind, helpful, and attentive. They also seemed happy! Which is rare. It made for a very pleasant dining experience. All in all, I recommend Burma Bay and would come again!

To be honest, I don't know that I've ever had Burmese food, But I will definitely want more in the future. This experience at the Burma Bay Cafe was wonderful. From Evelyn the hostess, to my server Chris, and a wonderful staff in the back of house, was top notch. Friendly, and loaded with heart. I tried the Burmese fried chicken. It was AMAZING!!! Similar to a sweet and sour chicken, or the crisp crust, and a delicious, slightly sweet, slightly tangy sauce. The coconut rice was a perfect pairing. I'm Celiac, and Have to avoid gluten. Thankfully, there are many is beautifully marked, making it fairly easy to stay away from my particular allergen. Everything that I tried to, marked with that beautiful "GF" exceeded my expectations. So if you're in the area... You have to get the Burma Bay Cafe a shot. Like myself... I know you'll be back.

If you're new to Burmese, I can best describe it like: if you can't decide what you wanted for dinner and had Thai, Chinese, Malaysian and some Indian food at the same time. šŸ˜‚ My hubby hasn't had it more than once, so he was hesitant when I said I wanted to try this new San Jose spot that popped up on Doordash. I have since changed his mind on this cuisine.

What we got delivered: Salt & pepper chicken Burmese style beef curry Tea Leaf salad Nan gyi dok Pineapple fried rice

The Burmese Beef curry is tender like a proper pot roast, but this luscious curry flavor is unlike any other curries I've tried before. This dish was hands down my favorite! The mouthwatering sauce was so delicious, I kept spooning it out of the to go container when the hubby wasn't looking. They didn't skimp on the amount of beef either, which surprised me. It always annoys me when I order curry, there's like 4 small pieces of meat with tons of sauce - not the case here!

Everyone always recommends to try a tea leaf salad when you have Burmese. This is an unique salad with a ton of yummy crunchy ingredients you don't normally see in salads, and it deliciously compliments the tea leaf dressing. Worth a try if you haven't before.

Even though my hubby wanted pineapple fried rice (yum!) I wanted to try some noodles too. The nan gyi dok uses thick rice noodles that include a rich chicken curry, and a of different mix-ins! I've never tried anything like this before, and it's on my reorder list for next time! Also picky toddler approved. šŸ‘¶šŸ»šŸ‘

Salt / pepper chicken is my go to whenever I see it on any menu. This one had a really good spicy / sweet sauce that I loved, and the chicken was bite sized. I think it was our toddler's favorite since he kept stealing more fried chicken from my plate.

The way Burma 3 packaged the food, there's no way any of your delivery drivers can tamper with the bag of food unnoticed, and that's something I really appreciated! Definitely will reorder again from here soon! Be sure to give them a try if you feel like having...

I had the pleasure of trying out Burma Bay for a take-out lunch this week, and I was quite impressed! I had the Black Pepper Chicken, Sesame Beef, Eggplant and Garlic, Jasmine Rice, Burma String Beans, and Mango Salad with Cabbage. Here's a quick rundown of my experience:

Black Pepper Chicken: This dish was a standout with its tender pieces of chicken and flavorful seasoning. It had just the right amount of spice to give it a nice kick.

Sesame Beef: The flavor of the Sesame Beef was delightful, though the beef was a bit on the tough side. A little more tenderness would have made it perfect.

Eggplant and Garlic: This was a delicious and aromatic dish. The eggplant was cooked to perfection, absorbing the garlic and spices beautifully.

Jasmine Rice: The rice was fluffy and served as a perfect complement to the flavorful dishes.

Burma String Beans: These were a highlight for me. They were cooked just right, maintaining a satisfying crunch while being packed with flavor.

Mango Salad with Cabbage: This salad was refreshing and provided a great balance to the savory dishes. The combination of mango and cabbage was crisp and light.

Overall, the food from Burma Bay was delicious and satisfying. Despite the slight toughness of the Sesame Beef, the rich flavors and well-cooked vegetables made for a great meal. I would definitely recommend Burma Bay and look forward to trying more...

I dined at Burma Bay on Oct 6 and while the food is good, their service is poor. They are not attentive and we would always have to asked for things (utensils, dessert menu, bill, etc). What gives them one star is we paid the bill and left the restaurant and a staff ran out outside to our car saying the payment did not go through and need to charge us again. I had a feeling the first payment did go through and I was right. I was charged twice for the meal! Currently overseas and annoyed, I called them to refund me one of the payments. The first person I talked to had no idea what to do so he said a manager would call me back but he never did. Claiming he couldn’t ā€œdial the numberā€ since it was an international phone number. I called again and gave him the details of both transactions and provided my number again and email and was told I would receive an email but never did so I called the manager again. He claimed ā€œemailed didn’t go throughā€. So both phone and e-mail didn’t go through or you didn’t try? I sent him screenshots of both bank transactions and he finally found them and said working on refund. Not once was I provided an apology or a sorry for the inconvenience. I’m currently abroad and having to constantly reach out when it was their doing for this inconvenience. I’ll never dine here again. The manager Angel Munoz is such a poor manager, he should get some training on how to...
