Mary's Bakery — Restaurant in Fremont

I placed an order througha delivery service which I will not name at the moment because it was not their issue. My order was to be a surprise for a family member I even went as far with the surprise to make the oder through 1 of my besties sister account to avoid spoiling the surprise. Well our delivery driver messaged us letting us know they would not allow him to leave with our order because he didn't have the confirmation number which he did next to our order info, he screen shot it for me to see exactly what they were looking at. I tried calling they would not answer or take his phone to speak to us. They proceeded to speak in their language which is perfectly fine but not to be rude especially when running an establishment. So rude I felt so bad for our driver who was Hispanic like myself. I'm sorry to say but in my opinion they are not only rude but also racist. My driver was in disbelief and so apologetic which was not even his fault and offered to get us another cake from a different establishment. For the price, food is not worth it, item selections are limited with few standard items, quality (taste and texture) is sub par, they told me they didn’t add additives, but I have a pastry chef friend, you can tell the difference with blend taste and rich taste by ingredient. The fillings for each item is so little, many of my friends said the same. But that all happened before.

The very last time I went there and bought the tiger skin cake, since I always wanted to support local stores, but the cake was molded after the night of purchase, I brought back with receipt, the lady just straight up said “oh because we don’t add additives” and refuse to make refund. I didn’t say another word and walked out. This lack of common sense I have no intention of challenge.

Come on, don’t take kindness for weakness. Service is horrible, I don’t understand how someone can establish a business with this mentality, as far as I know, many of the good reviews are written by friends of owner, yea words travels fast for bad news, so go for yourself and see. Horrible attitude and service! This is the first time I have given a negative feedback in Google. I have been here several times with no problem. Then I decided to order the birthday cake for my daughter here - worst decision. I came in on that day saying “Hi, I am here to pick up the cake.” The younger lady probably had a bad day or something, out of nowhere she basically yelled at me saying “Where is your receipt?! You didn’t even show me your receipt!” The attitude was so bad that even the other ladies there were surprised. I pulled out the receipt and asked her why she gave me that attitude. What did I do to deserve that attitude. The she changed her face and started to chat with me in a normal manner. And then we found out they didn’t make that cake! Thinking back I suddenly understood, so she yelled at me because she wasn’t expecting anyone to pick up a cake that afternoon because they totally forgot about it!
