
When I first moved nearby, I loved going to Eureka Eatery. I've been going here now for a few years and haven't written a review yet, honestly because I was hoping some things would improve.
The chicken here is very good. You can definitely tell there's a strong Chick-fil-A influence. The chicken is pickle juice brined, just to the point that there's a slight hint. It's not overpowering and gives great flavor.
I'm knocking my review down to 2 stars mainly due to the quality of the sides, wait times, and prices. My household noticed a decline in the quality of the waffle fries; however for a minute, they were once again very good and one of the best items on the menu. When I ordered this time, I expected their classic waffle fries - instead, I got regular french fries, which were far less superior to their waffle fries. I thought maybe I selected the wrong thing, but checking their menu a second time and I realize there is no longer an option for waffle fries! Why would they get rid of one of their best sides? I also used to like their Mac and cheese - it was mild but very creamy. They've changed this now, too, and I think I can taste the flour in the cheese sauce (the roux, which maybe isn't being cooked long enough), I could totally be wrong but that's how it tastes to me, it is not as good as it was before!
Despite the sides going down in quality, their prices have increased, at least three to four times in the last 3 to 4 years. They also got rid of their large size sides and drinks, but I noticed I'm paying just as much, no, more actually, than I was paying before to get large sides! Fast food is convenient, but it does get to a point where it's almost better to go to your Applebee's or Coney Island-type restaurants and spend the same amount of money, and get service on top of it. I pay less for a better meal at Cracker Barrel than I paid here! Additionally, sometimes, this restaurant isn't fast at all. If you happen to go during a busy time, you can be waiting 30 to 45 minutes just to get your food. I've waited here far more than average to get my food compared to other fast food restaurants.
Lastly, they got rid of their chicken nuggets, which definitely contributed to my rating as this was my primary order. The tenders are just fine, but I enjoyed the nuggets for their more compact size.
With Chick-fil-A in town now, there is almost no reason to go here anymore as they don't seem like they're able to keep up with competition. We've basically almost completely replaced our trips here to trips to Chick-fil-A instead where the quality and prices are more consistent. If they can bring back the quality of their sides, get wait times down during busy times, and either lower prices or make the quality worth the higher prices, then maybe I could enjoy frequenting here again. Background: I placed a large order online last year for pick up, but near time of pick up I received a call notifying me they would be closing early due to severe weather warning and I would be provided a full refund in the next few days. After almost 2 weeks waiting for refund, I called to ask about it's status. They requested I come into the store because they would not be able to help over the phone.
So, I drove out of my way, on a busy schedule to be told by store employee that they have no records of my transaction/refund. Lucky, I was able to provide records of all transactions and screenshots.
Then they requested I talk to another staff who was rude, condescending and even implied I was scamming the restaurant for money and demanded more proof. She not only demanded to see receipts but insisted I provide weeks worth of bank statements/transactions. This turned from a refund they were "not aware of" into "we probably already refunded your money but it takes a few days to process" (It's been 14 days).
To the shock of other customers and staff, she requested I pull up my mobile banking account and scroll through with her watching to prove I was not already refunded, a huge invasion of my privacy.
After "proving" I was not infact scamming restaurants with online orders and waiting for bad weather for unscheduled closure to collect money, I was able to receive cash refund. There was no apology for the inconvenience, her behavior or an attempt to amend the situation.
I was once a fan of this place. I made frequent, at times large orders and referred many customers but after this interaction, I cannot and will not recommend to others.
This is not how customers should be treated. A small issue escalated to be a waste of my time, gas and humiliating to me with invasion of my personal information.
Do not recommend. You've lost a customer and earned yourself...

When I got there, the young man running the phone was doing his best to process an order. 4 people made eye contact and walked past the counter, one kid twice. Not a single one asked while the other guy was on the phone if I had a take out order or if I was ordering new. All four of the ālemonade dispensersā on the front counter were empty. After the guy finished up call in order he grabbed my food, and said heād get me lemonade from the back which was a nice gesture. I opted for a fountain instead. Iām not sure how long before I picked up my order that my chicken and fries were dropped but they were not fresh. The fries were all settled together in the container and not crisp at all. The chicken was good from a flavor stand point as the consistency in the spices are always a saving grace. However the chicken itās self was room temp and also didnāt give me the impression it had been fresh with my order. I ate half and tossed the rest.
Honestly disappointed in the lack of care, and pride for whatās being produced. And I hope that I was the one off for the night. Eureka used to be my favorite spots and I honestly am not sure when Iāll give it a go again. My previous time through a part of my order was left out as well. Hoping staff and management can make the proper adjustments and bring the location back up to the early days of greatness.
