Steam Anchor Coffee & Cafe — Restaurant in Fulton

I used to always stop here years ago as they are right off the Great River Trail. I liked their "Hope Anchors The Soul" message. Then they closed, but in 2022 they opened. The first two times I tried to stop the lot was full, and a Prius was blocking the bike rack (how ironic). I have a very expensive bike and will not leave it unlocked from an appropriate object. The third time they were closed. The fourth time I was able to lock up my bike, and I have to agree with the negative reviews about the wait, and prices. Although the coffee was very good, the baked item was not as good as something from Casey's. Finally, although I am very Spiritual, I firmly believe in separation of Church and State (Mark 12:17). Used the drive through to get one of the sugar free cold brews advertised for October. No one in line. I was helped immediately. The barista seemed to have no idea what I was asking for, even though it was posted right on the window. I ended up telling her a large cold brew with the sugar free s’more and Carmel syrup with very very little cream. She asked if another car came up that I pull around to pick up. I did this. Sat for at least another 3 minutes after sitting for 2-3 at the window. The car that pulled up behind me got their drink first. Looked similar to what I expected mine to look like. They finally brought it out a minute later. It had no flavor except the cream. Tasted watered down and hardly coffee or syrup flavor which may not have even been sugar free. I used to love coming here but drink orders take too long (usually 20-25 mins). Today we stopped through because they looked relatively slow. It took 30 mins to get our order with 1 car ahead of us and 4 in the parking lot. That's unacceptable for 2 drinks. When I called after 25 mins I got a blow off answer of Doordash and app orders that were ahead of us. Not a mention to us that the wait would be so long when we were at the window. If so we would have canceled and gone somewhere else. They said they were working on our 2nd drink at that moment and would be right out. It took another 5 minutes.
