Sunrise Family Restaurant — Restaurant in Fulton

Feels like an old town diner that used to be everywhere, in every small town, and on every street corner in bigger towns. They have some specials, great soups of the day, and they serve breakfast all day, and everything is at affordable prices. These are sit down and take a few minutes away from the hustle and bustle, but the relaxed setting is such a good refreshing relief, it makes sense to do it. I have been to this place ten times, and I've d never had a bad item on the menu. From soups to burgers, and from omletes to pancakes, everything is good, hot, good sized portions, and at a decent price. You'll be amazed at the feeling you get when you eat a meal at a pace that it was meant to be eaten at. The service here was spectacular, the two waitresses were both working, cleaning, helpful, and had great timing. When a waitress can anticipate the needs and not be too pushy, it makes for a great dining experience. I'm sure if I came during the day, they would kick it up a notch and make sure I got out of here fast to keep you on a lunch schedule. I ate later at night and pretty much took my time, so they picked up on that and slowed down for me. We were out on a Sunday drive and decided to try someplace new and saw quite a few cars here and thought we would give it a try and all four of us were very glad we did. 3 of us ordered the fried chicken and one ordered spaghetti. All of it was good served hot and fresh, although some of the smaller pieces of chicken were a little dry but the taste was very good. The service was outstanding. Everyone was very efficient and friendly. All while we were there they were continuing to clean. Most of the people working there were wearing masks per covid precautions correctly however there was one who was making salad dressing and filling soups and such who's mask was down too far to be helpful. The meals all came with soup or salad in which we all ordered the chicken and rice soup which was very good. The chicken meals came with a potato and mixed vegetables and the spaghetti meal came with garlic toast and all meals came with dessert. The meals were all plentiful and tasty. As I mentioned they really went above and beyond cleaning which we appreciated especially since we are in the middle of a pandemic. I have been coming to Sunrise for many years. I live just outside of Fulton, Il, just 30 minutes north of interstate 80, across the bridge from clinton Iowa, and everything I order from a farmers skillet to a steak is cooked to perfection. They had a morning chef named Miguel, I always thought I would follow him anywhere to eat his food. Then one day Miguel was gone but he left me a note. " Robert, I took another job, and Freddie is now your chef. He knows just what you need.
