If I could give zero stars I would. This was our second time visiting since our last trip a couple of years ago and the experience was awful — completely night and day with our first time. The girl with the black and blue colored hair who took our order was rude and acted as if every question was stupid or an inconvenience. I have a severe gluten allergy and asked her if there were any gluten free biscuits available (as I saw they could be ordered online). She checked their fridge and confirmed they had some left. I asked her what kind of flour is used and she said the owners of the bakery who make it next door are out of town (basically declining to try to even find an answer). I decided to order it anyway as long as it was gluten free but saw that she did not type in or make it known I needed a gluten free biscuit on the register. I gave her the benefit of the doubt as there are several gluten free options offered here and thought maybe their system does not label it as gluten free. (Also God forbid I were to ask or point it out to her with how she was acting). The biscuit I received did not look like a “normal” biscuit so I assumed it was safe… but it tasted almost too good to be gluten free. My S/O went back up to the register after I took a few bites to confirm if it was gluten free as it tasted more normal to him too. He is not gluten free and is my taste-tester for a lot of things. They stated their system “malfunctioned” and confirmed they did indeed give me an “original” biscuit but could remake it gluten free. He let them know that is not the issue and that I have an anaphylactic-like reaction with my gluten allergy. We immediately left and I stopped by a Walgreens to take a high dose of Benadryl on our way to an ER. I sat outside of an ER for over an hour to see if the Benadryl would be enough… but I also know with food allergies you can have a delayed reaction. I have not had any gluten for 15 years so I have no clue how my body will react now and am still watching/waiting to see if I need to go to a hospital. I will NEVER come back or recommend this place to anyone, especially while rude staff members continue to work here. This was completely uncalled for and entirely avoidable had the staff been paying attention and willing to answer...
Read moreVery polite and friendly staff. Beautiful interior and coffee smell as well! Wife and I made an early Sunday morning trip (we live a mile away and had not tried yet) to Seawall Coffee Company. Ordered a 16oz Americano and bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast burrito. Wife got an iced mocha with coconut, a croissant breakfast sandwich, and a cookie! Sandwich and burrito were some of the best we have had, but had not noticed the prices before we ordered! These items cost $26! Would not have ordered these items at these prices. Anyway, wife loved her coffee and sandwich. My coffee however, was fairly weak. Should have ordered an additional shot. Spilled after 1 sip, and did not get a replacement by choice, although graciously offered. Definitely some work needs to be done on the pricing and coffee product. Finally, all seating was low with all chairs no higher than a sofa seat. They need some higher chairs as some persons may have problems/issues with sitting too low. I couldn't sit and decided to go and sit in my car. That's when the coffee went "splash!" Will give this place another go soon and possibly update this review.
10-08-2022 UPDATE: Went in this morning (Saturday) and they were pretty busy, but the line moved very quickly! Got my usual medium Americano, but got an extra shot (3 shots total--I make my pour-over coffee pretty strong at home) and it was perfection! I realized a few days after my initial review that my sense of smell/taste was diminished. Figured I would re-evaluate and came to the conclusion that...wait for it...I WAS WRONG! The coffee(s) were perfect, my wife got a frozen mocha coconut frappe - whatever - and just gushed over it. She even accepted whipped cream which she normally doesn't do! Not a drop left at the end though. Breakfast burrito and sandwich were just about the best on the island. Service is quick and full of smiles. I have updated the rating from 3 to 5 stars. I usually only go with a 5 when employees/owners take a little step beyond what is expected. They have consistently taken a step beyond. I also sat back and watched how the smiles never faded from ANY of the employees! Thanks again for a wonderful visit. Always meet new...
Read moreI have been in Galveston for four weeks now. I like this town so much that I have decided to stay through November.
I have a background in clinical psychology and stress management - and see a way I could contribute to this town and its visitors by offering classes for people around learning to use the water for stress management, balance issues, and inner peace.
I have been traveling for two years and attempting to run my business with an iPhone. Recently, a Best Buy Geek Squad tech support person taught me that I needed to be using a laptop in order to really maximize my business.
I purchased a Chromebook from Best Buy and have needed a coffee shop with Wi-Fi to develop my Google marketing materials.
The Seawall Coffee Company is an extraordinarily pleasant environment for sitting with my laptop and my service dog Magic. It is a very beautiful room with a lot of light. The Wi-Fi seems to work very well and I have had no trouble using it.
All the staff I have dealt with have been very pleasant and helpful and kind to my dog.
I want to specifically appreciate Paula, one of the two owners. Also very helpful have been baristas Shelby, Cara, Andrea and Pray.
The location of this coffee shop is way at the west end of downtown Galveston. When the town is very busy – as it has been on the weekends in May – this end of town is a great escape from all the intensity.
Directly across the street from Seawall Coffee Company is the Diamond Beach condominiums. There is good public parking behind that building - up on a rampart overlooking a spot along the Galveston Bay where waves crash against the rocks in a way that reminds me of Big Sur.
At the west end of the parking lot, you can walk right down to a long stretch of beach which tends to be much less busy than the downtown beaches.
I highly encourage you to include in your visit to Galveston one or more visits to this coffee shop, complemented by a walk on the beautiful beaches...
