Seahorse Grill — Restaurant in Galveston

Love Seahorse Grill! This restaurant is very cute and very clean! I got the Shrimp Jammers and the Grilled Shrimp Plate. My boyfriend got the Shrimp Po' Boy and spoke highly of it.

The food was amazing, and I plan to come back to eat again, but what was truly memorable about this place was the staff and the atmosphere.

My boyfriend and I came straight from the airport to this restaurant as our hotel room was not ready. We were jet-lagged, sweaty, and famished after a long day of travel, and even with massive suitcases and backpacks, we were welcomed. My boyfriend and I did not feel discouraged by staff for our luggage.

The staff said hi to everyone who walked in and greeted familiar faces by name. They kept up conversations and gave the place a small town/homey feel. Everyone looked so happy to be there. Staff talked to and goofed around with the children. The (I would assume) owner spoke Spanish to customers who preferred it, which is not common from where we are from.

The staff is extremely friendly, and they checked up on us multiple times while we ate! The owner held the door for us as we walked out with our luggage and wished us safe travels.

Oh my goodness. This was a treasure to find on the island. If you're into breakfast, this is a great place to go. It is in a strip mall, but do not let the outside deter your from going in. Our server, Gissela, was great. She greeted us when we came in the door and was there as soon as we sat down with menus. We had already checked out the menu online and had an idea of what we were having. I ordered the Migas con Chorizo. It came with refried beans and seasoned diced potatoes and a strip of bacon. You also had a choice of flour or corn tortillas. I got the flour, and it was one of the largest tortillas I've ever seen and handmade. Everything was cooked perfectly, and the seasoning was great. I usually think I need to add salt or pepper, especially to refried beans or potatoes, but neither of them needed it. My husband ordered the Huevo Con Chorizo ala mexicana. They were amazing, and the flavor kept coming in every bite. He also got the refried beans, potatoes, and flour tortilla. Neither of us could finish even half of our food, but it makes for a great reheat at our condo. I would definitely recommend eating here for breakfast. Absolutely loved it. Food was so so yummy! My boyfriend and I went for a casual date night dinner.

Overall - 5/5. Price was good for the quality and portion and we enjoyed our experience there! Would go again and I definitely recommend it.

Food - 5/5 taste. We got a combo basket and a catfish plate. The catfish absolutely melted in my mouth and everything was well seasoned. Shrimp was crunchy and delicious. Fries are well seasoned. Coleslaw was yummy. Unfortunately I wasn't given the hush puppies that the menu said came with the combo basket, but honestly I didn't even notice until we left since all the other food was so good lol.

Service - 4/5. They were a little slow, and they seem understaffed (if they had one more person I think they would've been perfect). But a couple big parties came in and it's a pretty small place, so that's understandable. Staff were very nice! Also, on the main receipt where you sign and add tip they have pre calculated tip suggestions so you don't have to do math which is nice.
