El Patron Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Gautier

When trying a new Mexican restaurant I’m always hesitant to order the Chile rellenos because you never know what will come out. Some places serve a greasy, flavorless clump of cheese with a sliver of a chili pepper somewhere in the mix, making me wish I’d just ordered fajitas. Others serve a whole (but very small) pepper, battered and filled with meat and cheese. El Patron’s chiles rellenos are the bomb. The pepper was huge- almost the length of the plate. I couldn’t eat the whole thing, which is a first for me. Battered and stuffed with delicious cheese and just the right amount of beef and red sauce. The taste was amazing and the texture was perfect. 10/10, will order again, but next time I won’t eat so many chips before the food comes out. My friend had the fajitas and they were amazing as well. Lots of veggies in the mix- zucchini and yellow bell peppers. Most places just serve a mushy mix of greasy green peppers and onions. My daughter & I went there to eat last Sat.(11/11/2023). My food was served on a plate with a big chip out of the side. I complained but got ignored. I also received cilantro on top that I clearly said I didn't want. My daughter asked for extra cilantro but didn't get it. The waiter took off and we were told 3 times that he was out back on the phone!! We waited a minimum of 15 minutes! My daughter was served a huge drink that she only ordered a small! As I was trying to pay for only my food I was ignored again. I refused to pay due here that he took away after she took 2 bites. She got very sick!! By Sunday I took her to the ER. She had food poisoning. After the guy made me pay for mine we took our tip back off the table. Most unprofessional disgusting place ever!! I love the steak tacos I had! My fiance had some tamales, very good. She let me try them too! My weekness was the chips and salsa they served. I mean, I ate like half a bowl of chips and enjoyed the salsa so much (I didnt drink it) but they need to make a V8 flavor like that!! My son tried the macaroni and fries and liked that also. Now one thing they beed to work on is the distribution of tequila in there margaritas... My friend, I never drink and I didnt get a buzz off one of there margaritas what so ever! Fix that!
