Luckie's Diner — Restaurant in Gautier

We were excited to try Luckies Diner since there aren’t many food options near us on Hwy 57. We placed a large takeout order, and while I’m a picky eater, my husband is not which makes it even more disappointing that neither of us could eat our food.

The Good: • The customer service was great! The lady who took my order was very sweet and helpful. • The onion rings were okay.

The Bad: • The mac & cheese bites were falsely advertised. Nowhere in the description did it say they were spicy, yet they tasted just like jalapeño poppers. I was expecting a creamy, cheesy bite, not a mouthful of jalapeño-flavored cheese. Thankfully, I didn’t give them to my kids! • The chicken was below average. • The hot dog was inedible, according to my husband. • The milkshakes were $5.50 each but were tiny the size of a McDonald’s Happy Meal cup. Definitely not worth the price.

We spent $58 on this meal, and most of it is still sitting in the to-go boxes because it just wasn’t enjoyable. I hate to leave a negative review, but I also think something needs to change. I wouldn’t recommend eating here unless they improve the quality.

I had high hopes for this place based off of the description when being built. It was supposed to be an old fashioned experience. The Good: I can only recommend French fries from this place. The Bad: ordered a milkshake that cost $5, was extremely small, and wasn't even made with real strawberries like you would find at an old fashioned Diner. Their hamburger had a weird chemical taste. I would not get another one of those. The seating was very uncomfortable. It took an hour to receive a simple meal and they weren't even that busy. The waitress was very friendly but it seems they need to train their staff better. The cheese sticks were very bland. People that had showed up and ordered after us got their food before us. At the end of the day if changes aren't made I will not be going back...
