Ixtapa Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Contiguous United States

Decent place to eat for Mexican food and within the small town of Vancleave, that is limited for eat out locations, and that is located away from the ocean.

I had the shrimp Chimichanga and requested the green verde sauce, as I enjoy a more traditional sauce and taste with the entres, and a side of guacamole that is pretty tasty. It was pretty good with the standard rice and beans with a salad.

My partner had the beef chimichanga and thought it was decent. He thinks the hamburger gets ground up to "fine" sometimes for taste and texture.

I had the two-fer, very small margaritas that tasted like sweet n sour with lime and very little tequila. I had a Corona Extra after that, as you know what you are going to get with a beer. The service is on par but nothing spectacular, and it is a good place to stop for food while in town.

When we moved to the area I'll be honest... I was hesitant to try Ixtapa mainly because so many of the Mexican restaurants in our area all seem to offer the same thing. But I am so happy we decided to try it and it has now become one of our go to places at least twice a month. Their salsa is amazing, not too hot and perfectly balanced. My husband loves their shrimp quesadillas and with me being vegetarian they make the BEST veggie fajitas and include carrots, broccoli and cauliflower in with the peppers, tomato and onion. The flavor is amazing. Let's not forget their tasty margaritas, fresh horchata (they actually make it fresh, not from a can) and great service. I won't eat here again. They use poor quality steak, the food is cold after the first couple of bites, I assume because they microwave it. They charge extra for extra sour cream when they could just give you enough to start with. I ate there by myself for lunch and it was 18.79 with 3 dollar tip. Too expensive for poor quality food. The service was okay but the waitress was distracted with one of the other waitress' I have been here 3 times and 2 of them were bad like this so, I'm done...
