Fire Water Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Geneva Township

I so badly wanted this to be a 5 star experience! I’ve read so many positive things that I couldn’t wait to try it out! Tonight, I’m not sure if it was just a fluke (we all have off days), but it was quite disappointing. Being in the food and beverage industry for many years, I understand being understaffed, in the weeds, and unable to be able to give 100% to everyone. I’m very patient and understanding. The server we had was very kind and explained to us that she was not even a server, but due to staffing issues, she was stepping in to help.

First, we were seated and not spoken to for about 20 minutes. Second, we order our drinks and are told that out of everything on the drink menu, 3 of the items weren’t available. Third, we order appetizers and I request to get my 4 year olds meal with our appetizers. A solid 45 minutes goes by before we get our appetizers, which of the three, only two come out. Not accompanied by my 4 year olds food. While waiting for appetizers, we had to approach the bar to request drink refills. Finally, our food comes out! Not all at once, though. Although the Salmon I ordered would have been delicious, it sat in the window long enough to be lukewarm at best. My boyfriends burger was not only well done, his bun had been cooked by the heat lamp. My sister received her appetizer AFTER her meal, and my 4 year old was the very last to receive her meal. All of those were things we were willing to look past, as we are all understanding that some days are better than others. I was not even intending to leave a review, but the last event that took place put a bad taste in my mouth (pun not intended) that as solidified my decision not to return. The (not server) server came to our table with our checks (3 of them) she explained that she removed the kids meal and one salmon meal off of the tab for the inconvenience. My boyfriend said that he would just pay for all of the checks with that being the case. Very thankful and satisfied that she put in effort to acknowledge that we received subpar service, we all collaborated on what our total would have been prior to the comps and planned to tip her well above 25%. Then, she came back with the tab for my boyfriend and she had added all of the meals that she had originally comped back onto it. I really wanted to enjoy this restaurant and talked it up to everyone that came out with me tonight, all to be disappointed.

Removing stars because not only did we have the above experience, they blatantly lied in their response to my fiancés review by stating that we tried to leave the premises without paying our tab. Took them 10 months to respond and instead of trying to rectify and earn the business of locals, they lie and try to turn it around on us. So...

Fire Water Bar and Grill in South Haven, Michigan, provided the perfect celebratory meal for our victorious high school robotics team, Rammagedon! We chose Fire Water to commemorate our prestigious Impact Award win for the state finals, and they exceeded all expectations. The food was absolutely outstanding, a true culinary delight! Every dish was delicious and expertly prepared, a fitting reward for our team's hard work and dedication. The service was equally impressive; the staff was attentive, friendly, and genuinely enthusiastic about our achievement. They made us feel truly special. The warm and inviting atmosphere at Fire Water created a wonderful space for our team to celebrate. It felt like a home away from home, ideal for sharing our joy and excitement. The plentiful parking made it easy for everyone to join in the celebration, and even though it was a bit of a drive, it was absolutely worth it to experience such a memorable evening. Fire Water Bar and Grill is more than just a restaurant; it's a place where celebrations come to life. Large amounts of empty tables this Saturday evening (approximately 10 or more outside tables) but was told there was at least 45 minute wait just to be seated because the “kitchen couldn’t keep up?” It was just me,, one person. I just wanted to sit and drink and eat for a while. You know,,, spend money at a local restaurant. I’m never cheap and I tip well. Staff seems to range from good to completely dismissive of your (at least my) existence. Out of menu items often. Sometimes it’s ok, sometimes it isn’t. If you don’t want my business, you won’t get it any more. Really disappointed that I was basically turned away last night.
