Without a doubt the best meal we had on our trip to Big Canoe from coastal SC. Everything was just 5 star. The best Rye Manhattan ever, do not ask for it on the rocks, this bartender takes pride in his signature drinks DRINK IT STRAIGHT UP! Bread here is not normal, it is a menu item for a reason. Hearty sourdough with a good chew crust not much need for butter. They comp the first tasting. My spouse chose a beef filet done to a perfect medium rare. I had the braised short ribs and there was nothing more that could have been done to make them more uncious. You could taste a lot of different flavors of warm spices, all plated atop some smooth mushroom risotto. My images do not do it justice, other than a clean plate. Dessert is made on site by a pastry chef that must have alot of love and respect for what she can do with the brownie chocolate ice cream delight. (the menu name is something delicious in itself) I had I thought that the profiterole would be ok, NOPE! unbelievable flakey layers of custardy dough filled with on site made ice cream. They do it all here... the menu flips in about 3 days cycles so you know they are doing their best to locally source their fare. Our server was Heather and it's really rare to find really excited professional wait staff that will spend time and share how she feels proud to be serving such outstanding food while providing superb service to all her stations. Reservations are suggested.

I love the cozy, but refined ambiance of this exceptional restaurant. It truly feels like a friend's home. We were surprised that they could accommodate our reservations on short notice, but the second you walk in the door, you realize how much they prioritize the guests experience. Kristie loved her drink, a custom White Cosmopolitan. The food is delicious! The Seared Scallop appetizer got eaten too fast for a picture (sorry). The Scallops were perfectly seared leaving the meat very soft & buttery, the sauce was very good too & I saved the mushrooms for last & enjoyed them with the last of the sauce on a piece of their house made focaccia bread. Kristie had the Mahi and she really enjoyed it commenting on how perfectly seasoned it was. I had the Meatloaf & really enjoyed it, but wished I would have had a bit more of the gravy it was so good. Ive never had an onion ring like that before. It was almost worth the trip by itself. Kristie & I actually switched plates halfway through. Then came desert! Once again it was eaten so quickly there was no chance for a picture. If something can be just too rich, this was it. The homemade toffee ice cream was delicious & the brownie was so soft it just fell apart when we tried to get a spoon of ice cream with it. We almost felt guilty for eating it, but we were glad we did.

Dining at Home was a lovely experience! The ambience is nice and while the menu was smaller, it was clear that this was to let the dishes shine. It is one of the few good restaurants in the area, it’s a shame that it isn’t open more nights. We sampled the focaccia, a goat cheese toast, the brussel sprouts, the lobster bisque, the lamb, and a white fish. We also tried the brownie and scoops of pistachio and chocolate bourbon icecream. The options change regularly, but I would highly recommend the brussel sprouts and the white fish! The only meal I didn’t love was the lamb, I had high expectations that weren’t quite met in terms of flavor.

We came here while on a weekend getaway trip and I can honestly say it was a highlight of the trip. How a five star fine dining venue ended up the middle of nowhere I can't imagine but I'm certainly glad it did.

The atmosphere is great, high class without being snobby, and the ambiance is fantastic for either a nice get together with friends or a romantic date. The decor was pleasing and interesting to look at, and the seating was comfortable and arranged well.

The service was also stellar. I don't remember our server's name, but she was excellent and was on the spot with keeping drinks filled and checking on us without being too intrusive. She was also highly knowledgeable about the menu and food, and friendly without being overbearing.

And the food. My god, the food. Everything was top notch, high quality, and you can tell the the chef is passionate about food and cooking. The pasta is made in house and you can taste it. Every dish we had was an experience, and a positive one. They also have an in-house pastry chef and we had the carrot cake and amaretto cheesecake. It was divine. I don't even like carrot cake and I would have eaten two slices by myself.

The prices were also shockingly good. For three people, our bill was around a 100 which for the quality of the food, service, and atmosphere is a BARGAIN. For a similar meal where we live it would have easily been double the price.

Whether you live in the area, are vacationing, or are just passing through, you're missing out if you don't give this...

Sept 2024: The team at Home continues to amaze: we dined in three times this month and took out 3 times, and were delighted each time. The to-go Thai Chicken Curry was fantastic (and I not a curry lover). Had a great Australian octopus smalll plate at the restaurant the other day! They prepare duck and lamb exquisitely. So glad the Lupi family/team make Home their Home near us.

New post in 2024: Another great meal; the folks at Home have changed up a few things but maintained the excellence in the kitchen and in the service. In 2024, we have had some amazing duck breast medallions, mussels, sea bass, and on this last trip my wife had the petite filet salad (a small plate offering) and I had incredible braised short ribs over Home-made pasta. For the person who loves beef, but not in excess, the filet on the salad was just the right amount. We still take out a lot and the Shrimp over pasta for 2 is amazing!!! Thanks, Home! See you soon.

This evening, we went to Home for a celebratory dinner and had a fantastic experience. Everything, from drinks to appetizers, entrees to dessert, homemade bread to sides, service to ambience, was great. The specials for the evening (amazing fried shrimp, wonderful potato/leek soup, red fish) were all perfect. The onion rings are the best I have ever had - - - more like a beignet! We take out meals from Home quite frequently, but on special occasions like tonight, dining in at Home is wonderful. They do everything well. Grateful for Home, and...
