Last night (a Friday) I and two others showed up at Lucky Hare at 7:30 without a reservation. The place was packed, and we had resigned ourselves to discussing other dining options. Thankfully the cheerful, yet busy hostess said let me see what I can do. In a matter of minutes, she said follow me and lead us to a table about four feet away from where we were standing. I had a slight twinge about being so close to the door, but beggars (without a reservation) shouldn't be choosy. Man, was I grateful. Sara waited on us and she set the tone right away. She was fun and on top of everything. Made us feel like we were regulars (we hope to be now). My dining partners ordered roasted chicken and the steak frites. I ordered the scallops. My friend kept raving about the chicken and the sauce it was in. To my right I could see the steak was cooked as had been ordered (I didn't get a bite). I am a seafood lover. My scallops were divine. They were on a bed of "crunchy" quinoa. I know that sounds weird, but it came together. My companion to the right had decided on the chocolate Guinness cake before he even looked at the entree selections. Sadly, for him, that special of the day had been snatched up by dessert time for our table. He ordered the pot of chocolate (not the correct name but an apt description). My companion to my left had the tiramisu. Neither of them spoke to me for a few minutes as they were too busy. I think they each feared I might ask for a taste. Both of them raved about their desserts maybe a little too much, but I got over it. My only regret was not having taken pics of our plates. Then to top it all off, my friend to the left picked up the whole tab for dinner! It doesn't get any better than that. Did I mention that Sara who waited on us...
Read moreLucky Hare is an amazing restaurant! I have dined there probably 4-5 times now, and I always want to come back for more! The food is chef’s kiss and the service is unmatched. Tucker is an amazing server, I never had to ask for anything, he just had it ready! Ask for him to serve you! Val is a wonderful manager - I had reserved a seat, and my table was waiting for me when I got there. Also, Sophia is the best bartender around, I wasn’t even sitting at the bar, and she made a point to say hello to me! Tonight, I had the mussels for my appetizer, and they were served in a delicious red, slightly spicy, broth with buttery toast points for dipping (ask for extra, you’ll want it!!). Absolutely delicious. I ordered the duck confit as my entree. I had never had duck before tonight, and goodness gracious, I’m so glad I got it! It was served with cannellini beans and fennel pollen, and again, delicious. So glad this was my first duck experience! Thank you guys for a great dinner, and I can’t wait...
Read moreThe Lucky Hare looks amazing! What a wonderful ambiance. The service was very friendly. I’m glad they were able to seat us (my parents and I) even though we didn’t have a reservation.
My parents split the smash burger. (They eat like birds, so splitting one entrée was perfectly enough for them) and I had the steak frites.
I actually didn’t quite care for the relish / slaw thing that it came with. It was ok.. other people may really like it, but it was just ok for me. I asked for a steak sauce, and the waitress brought over an au jus that was out of this world!! It was SO GOOD. I wasn’t going to finish the steak, but I did because of this amazing dipping sauce. So flippin good. They need to add it to that dish on the side so you don’t have to wait & ask for it.
The dessert was really good, too! S’mores ice cream, with toasted marshmallows and everything! Delish.
I’d love to come again and try other things on...
