I genuinely don't enjoy leaving bad reviews, but I was left very unsatisfied after my experience here.
I arrived on a Friday evening around 8pm as a single dine in. Despite there being lots of open tables, the hostess twice tried to have me sit at the bar even though I said no (and try to stay away from areas that serve alcohol, like restaurant bars).
When I was seated, it was at the table right next to the doors leading into the kitchen, so I felt quite claustrophobic next to all of the wait staff. After about a 20-minute wait, my server asked me what I wanted to drink. At that point, I just wanted to get some food and leave. I asked for a simple To-Go order: a fried shrimp poboy with Yucca fries and a sweet tea. After putting in my order, I waited almost 30 minutes to receive my sandwich. My server was very sweet but a little flustered. Even though I ordered something To-Go, I still made sure to tip him. My order was $20.
For $20, the food was unbelievably disappointing. The quality was very much like something I would order from Kroger or Publix. A standard, slightly soggy hoggie roll, 5 shrimp, no sauce of any kind, 1 thin slice of tomato, 2 thin rounds of onion, and one whole leaf of Romain lettuce. It was probably one of the blandest sandwiches I've ever had. And for $15, it was extremely overpriced for the quality. Thankfully, at least the shrimp and yucca fries were crispy. The lack of flavor and subpar quality of the ingredients is really what left me boarderline in tears as I sadly ate my sad little sandwich next to the water. I ended up going to Captain D's later... and their food was significantly more flavorful.
It is quite apparent that this restaurant is coasting on their absolutely beautiful location. The quality and price of food is just not worth it. Go to Fishtales or Pelican Pete's instead. Around the same price for significantly...

My ratings are usually either all up or all down, so this is a difficult one as I don't want to hurt anyone...
So let's just get the music out of the way... it needs variety. Every song sounded basically the same and were all the same slow pace. It's a beautiful Sunday morning and people are coming to start what they hope is going to be a great day! Upbeat, bright, happy, and even beach vibe, IMO, would be more appropriate. Again, my opinion and everyone has one.
Our server was an absolute doll! And observing the staff, everyone was working hard and diligently to care for the patrons! Loved the two helping at the buffet, they were so sweet! Fabulous service from everyone!
The biscuit... well, it failed. Greatly overworked, it was tough, hard, and honestly could not be split with the cutlery. Having seen pics from other people, I am going to guess this was a one off.
The scrambled eggs, good. Bacon, little greasy, but good. Sausage patty, average. French toast, good. Pancake, average. Sausage gravy, fantabulous. Fried shrimp, good. Fried chicken strips, ok. Fried fish chunks, star of the show. Eggs Benedict (ham), half step behind the fried fish. Baked fish, on par with eggs Benedict. Spring roll, average. Fried chicken empanada (is that what it was?), okay. Fried oreos, okay. Fresh cut watermelon, great.
LOL hope that helps you out!
We sat on the patio, where the bar is. In the shade, just enough air from the fans, loved it! There was never a wait for seating during the 90 minutes we were there.
Thinking we might need to be back for dinner sometime... especially if we can gat ahold...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAfter reading the reviews on Google my friends and I were super excited to visit Skogies, for the first time. Upon arriving we noticed the outside covered seating and bar, which was nice to have since it was a rainy day. There was also an inside seating area, so we walked in and was greeted by whom i assume was the owner. He was extremely friendly and explained in detail about the buffet items, price and what the proceeds went to. We opted to sit outside and he even led us to our table. The flooring on the outside area was a bit slippery but we managed to get around without falling. Our waitress came over and i specifically asked was it buffet only or could we order from the menu and was clearly told it was buffet only for the charity event. None of this was stated on the website which i looked at into detail prior to arriving. Fine, we did the $20 buffet which came with an alcoholic beverage (no liquor-just beer and wine products served). After visiting the buffet we sat and began to eat. Only one of our 3 drinks made it to the table so after about 5 minutes, we had to track our waitress down to get the other two drinks. Food was ok but the deeped fried oreos were amazing! We were ok with the mediocre food...that is until a couple came in that was obviously well known to the servers and requested a menu and DID NOT have to eat from the buffet. As we started to look around i noticed another guy with a non-buffet meal. We finished up paid and left. Another issue was the restroon is not attached to the restaurant so you have to walk a little ways to, wouldnt have been a problem but it was raining. Seems like a nice place with potential but it will be a while before we give Skogies...
