There was no sign about seating when I walked in so I didn't know whether to seat myself or not. That was what seemed to be a five-year-old at a stand in the front that just stood there and looked at me so I waited about 5 minutes when some people came in the front door walking around me and looked as if they seated themselves so I seated myself as well. Another 5 minutes or so of being ignored as waitresses and servers walk by I was beginning to think it was time to get up and leave when a server stopped and asked why I was sitting at that table and finally asked me if they could help me. I explained that I was not aware of seating to them, what happened and why i was sitting there and they acted as if that was my fault. She said I should have and now needed to go to the front counter and tell them and they would seat me. I explained that I had done that but no one was there or the little girl and several others there after I walked in and I've been standing there for a few minutes did not acknowledge me at all. After getting through that ordeal I was seated and the server acted as if she really didn't want to take my order, but we got through it and I ordered. I ordered the pulled pork plate with greens and sweet potato souffle I also added a side order appetizer of Brunswick stew and fried mushrooms come out before the meal. For some reason people don't seem to understand what appetizers mean has it all came out at the same. After hearing about how good the barbecue was at this place I was rather still excited to try it. However the pulled pork meat was so greasy I could not eat it while the Brunswick Stew was great the fried mushrooms tasted strange and because they had sweet cornbread I could not eat the greens. Being a southern boy I meet Lee put the cornbread in the greens and some pepper vinegar unfortunately the cornbread being sweet destroyed the flavors which as a southern boy I was looking forward to when I started that. Now had I known that i would not have ordered greens if I'd known about the sweet cornbread instead of it being normal. So all-in-all I paid $40 to be inconvenienced treated rather short and as if I was an inconvenience myself to them and had bad greasy food. With the exception of the good cup of Brunswick which I actually wish I had another cup...
Read moreIt was one of the worst experiences I've had in a long time. I just got stationed back in Valdosta after 15 years of being away and told my family that smoking pig was good back in the day and we should go for dinner. It is not the same restaurant as i remember. Service was horrible. Waited 15 minutes just for a drink order. I was almost to the point of walking out, but my boy was too hungry to wait for us to find a new place. We ordered the burnt ends, and no one really wanted to eat them. They were more burnt than meat. The meat that was there was almost too dry to eat. Three of us got the salad bar, and there were supposed to be knives at the end, but the holders were empty. I asked one of the staff if I could get 3 knives, and she went to the back to get them. She came back to talk to a different lady and that one went to the back. She then came back with 3 dirty knives. When I say dirty, I mean they had food stuck in the serrated part. We I pointed it out to the lady she just looked at me like she didn't know what was wrong. I then decided I could live without a knife at the smokin pig. The menu said half-price beers but the server informed me it was actually buy one get one free. Not a huge issue except in a "nice" restaurant the server just drops a can of beer on the table and walks off. I've been to dumps that will at least offer you a glass for you $1 beer and the glass is usually clean. When we first sat down I was excited to see the large area they had dedicated to military and would be a perfect place for a going away party or promotion party but not sure i want to go back or put my name on a recommendation for a large group to go there. I figured they would offer a military discount with how much military memorabilia they had but never saw the server long enough to ask so still unsure about that one. Best of luck if you...
Read moreWhere do I start? I did like the creamed corn! However...I may have liked the shrimp if I would have been able to tried it while it was hot. Even mildly lukewarm would have been nice. She and another server that helped her brought our food to us. Well, not all of us. Three people in the party had to wait. I asked for sauce thinking she would run grab a container while we were waiting on food. Yep, I did it to myself. I asked for sauce and she walked away stating she would return. I am not kidding you when I tell you that it was over five minutes later when she returned with the other three meals. And guess what?! We had to ask for sauce AGAIN!!!!!!! She went and got it, but just had to stop by two different tables and make sure they were doing okay first. Now, i have a problem with that as well. First off, they both got there after we did and they've both had multiple refills. We have had salads and have started on our meals and haven't had the first offering of a refill on our drinks. We were left with our toungues hanging out in the desert in that back room!!! My husbands burger is fried, but was a little undercooked. It says it's "grilled" on the menu. Grilled is NOT fried! Grilled is over an open flame not on a flat top griddle. Someone else ordered the prime rib sandwich and said it was just okay. My mother got a bowl of peach cobbler and wanted ice cream. HUGE mistake! The machine hadn't been turned on so only liquid came out on top of her cobbler. Nasty! Once we were all finished, now mind you we didn't eat it all, we had to flag her down to get a refill. We got one refill when two of her other tables that we could see her at got a minimum of three! Not good in our books! I left the second star because my corn was actually amazingly good! Then a dog was brought into the restaurant. Oh my crackies did that...
