This is your standard suburbia family Mexican restaurant and it is as average as they come.
Chips and Salsa: Chips were thin, crispy and salted well. They resemble tostitos cantina style chips more then fresh homemade chips but they were nice. Two styles of salsa, both decent in flavor and varied in heat level.
Drinks: We tried a variety of margaritas and we were overall disappointed. Some were too sweet, others too watered down. Didn't quite hit the spot unfortunately.
Food: We got a molcajete, gorditas, and cochinita pibil. The molcajete came out searing hot which was nice. Unfortunately the contents quickly became tough and overcooked as it continued cooking for 10 minutes after it reached the table. Once it cooled down and became possible to eat we enjoyed the flavor and mix of everything. The gorditas were again just average, pork and brisket were just ok. The cochinita was grainy and tough but the fat and the oil helped bring it to life a bit. Tortillas were no better than store bought which was again a little disappointing.
Our waitior was great, really kind and helpful.
Price is laughable but I guess what you can expect for the market of the area. For me personally, would never come back to spend this kind of money on this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst time here, and it definitely wont be our last! Our server Darren was a breath of fresh air, providing us with exemplary service, always smiling and extremely vigilant in his duties. The food was phenomenal, fast, and hot. It was very impressive to see that they had many more offerings than the typical Mexican restaurant and each plate (you could tell) had love, time, and effort actually went into the plate, from the smart presentation, to the wonderful bold flavors, to the timely hot delivery to our table. The owner Jonathan took the time to welcome us and spend some quality time with us as well, which as many of you know is a rarity and a pleasant surprise. He was quit pleasant and engaging. The other surprise is the fact that the menu is really quite economical and priced affordably. If I had any negative or detracting remarks to make, it would be that they need longer straws, and more comfortable chairs...other than that, I don't think you'll be displeased with what they have to offer here. Being a professional Chef for the past 40 years, I was really impressed with this facility and I hope you enjoy it as...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe food here is consistently excellent. It's premium Mexican food that is creatively prepared with a wide variety and unique twists that set it apart from standard Mexican fare. Most importantly, it's always tasty. The prices are a little high, but for the quality, it's fair.
Now for the "but." BUT...the service is consistently awful. I have eaten here at least 10 times and not once have I had a positive experience with the servers. They're friendly; they're just not very attentive. They spend a lot of time at the bar chatting instead of checking on drinks and chips, taking orders, bringing bills....you know, ordinary waitering stuff. Plan to always be waiting for your waiter. If they seat you in the row of booths furthest from the bar on a slower night, you may as well forget getting a refill on your drink without going to the bar yourself.
I really like this place. It's close to home, a fun environment, and (if I haven't praised it enough) the food is great! I just hope they get the server problem taken...
