We stopped on our way south headed toward the beach. We generally love Zaxby’s, and the twins both insisted on it for dinner. I did something that I don’t typically do - I ordered a Zalad. I love fried chicken and I love the way Zaxby’s cooks it but a salad? I knew they are good because I’ve had them a time or two in the past. Large salads full of goodies and I looked forward to enjoying a healthy meal. This salad was good and I enjoyed the first half. As I was telling my family how happy I was with my healthy choice that day, I got a bite that tasted like Round-Up. Then, my mouth tingled. I completely lost my appetite. And my mouth hurt. Along with my throat. I took the remaining Zalad to the counter and let them know - I just got a full dose of some chemical and it is making my mouth burn. The manager offered my money back, but I told her that I wasn’t worried about the 7 bucks. The larger picture was that the salad is tainted. So my wife and I discussed this over the next couple of hours as we continued to drive south. First, I tasted chemical for about 3 more hours. I assumed that the chemical I was tasting was from the lettuce not getting washed properly. My wife says that she observed the girls that were going around cleaning off tables being very liberal with their spray bottles and not careful where and what they sprayed. Her theory is that if they are careless out front, then they are careless in the back. Either way, this was a very bad experience and I won’t be visiting that Zaxby’s again. Final thoughts - my wife and kids’ meals were excellent and they met all expectations. Also, how could the manager let me walk without getting a name or insisting on a refund? I declined, but that seemed to be the end of that - unhappy customer that doesn’t want a refund. I love Zaxby’s, so I’ll continue to go to other locations, but this one is off the list forever. I travel down 95 frequently, but there are plenty of other options in the area - my advice is to try those...
Read moreWhere to begin. To be fair...this is a small resturant with limited space available. The facility was packed with people so as far as the food goes this is a promising sign to the weary traveler. The facilities, however were obviously never intended for the crush of patrons visiting the establishment during the peak holiday travel season. Zaxby's isn't really fast food in the traditional sense either and it takes time to prepare each order. Factor the logistical challenge of a small kitchen, longer than normal fast food preparation time, and the tidal surge of travelers and it was understandable that it took nearly 30 minutes for the order to be prepared. The queues were a bit difficult to discern as there were people waiting for orders, waiting for the restrooms, and waiting for the drink machine. The restrooms are single occupant only and were clearly suffering from the strain of high capacity use as the soap dispenser was indicating empty and the hand towels were fully expended. Again, considering the tsunami of people, many of them benefiting from the typical healthy modern American diet and it is completely understandable that the restroom was in shambles after what was likely the end of a two hour onslaught of what appeared to be people attempting to flush claymore mines.🤔 But I digress, the food did arrive and it was hot. Very hot. Not spicey heat, unless you happen to be British one wouldn't consider Zaxby's hot, but thermally challenging. Once it cooled to the point of being consumable it was of the same high quality that one expects from the brand. So in conclusion this is pretty much what you expect for Zaxby's and if you happen to be traveling during the holidays place your order at Zaxby's then go use the restroom next door...
Read moreWent through here on vacation on 4/21 around 4:00 and had the worst experience ever. We love zaxbys but this one almost ruined it. The lady at the front was rushing us to order and was all out just rude. They had people in non uniforms coming in and out the back getting little bags of stuff. The food oh my god🤮. We got a zax snacks and a zaxseas meal and it was the worst. The chicken was not cooked all the way the shrimp omg if you can’t cook it don’t serve it. The shrimp was not cooked but on the outside like it was put in the fryer until the outside crisped up. We got like 10 fries each I mean one of our meals didn’t even have fries in it. The atmosphere was just all out nasty the tables were not clean I had to get my brother up from the table becaUe it had sauce all over it and all the tables were like that just nasty so we just ate in the car. We also needed to use the bathroom but the men’s was terrible toilet paper everywhere, looked like pubs in the sink and pee on the toilet. The women’s was no better from what my mother said. There was trash on the floor and tampon wrapers to. Also explain this how was there pee on the women’s toilet now come on. So in the end this place was terrible we will never be back. And to the lady at the front I’m sorry your life is so bad you have to be mean to costumers to make yourself feel better. So for warning DO NOT EAT HERE. P.s if you think I’m exaggerating, we talk to a couple that came in at the same time as us and their meals were the same way if I could give this place zero...
