My boyfriend and I have been on the road for quite some tim. We had just left family in Houston. I insisted on getting DQ( haven't had it in a while). Granted it was a good hour before they closed but we were hungry. We make our order rounding up to $20, which is a lot for us but we wanted to try the new pumpkin pie blizzard. We got our order in a good time, but our drinks came with bendy straws. The woman handed them to us without any gloves or napkins wrapped around them. I understand if they had ran outand needed to get a back up. (I work at a restaurant where it's not uncommon having to go to a store to buy something that ran out) but that was unsanitary. Our blizzards were ok my boyfriend got a mini Oreo blizzard and I got the mini pumpkin pie blizzard. The pumpkin pie blizzard seemed to have been mixed with an excessive of pie crust and there was a burst of nutmeg not mixed in. Made me want to puke. The fries were ok. Not my favorite but that's not their fault. On the other hand our burgers was their fault. My boyfriend's burger was sloppily made the patties were dry like they've been sitting on the grill over 15 minutes, and with any DQ you will run in to the amount of mustard they place on their burgers which always more the amount desired. But for some reason his burger was soaked in mustard unacceptable. My burger's bun were so greasy they were stuck to the wrapper. I barely ate a third of it. I understand a slow night but with the speed they were able to serve the food you'd think it would be fresh especially with only an hour before closing. This Dairy Queen has hit a bad chord for my boyfriend and I's weekend. We will never visit this establishment on...
Read moreNot sure why but the group I was with and myself had had nothing to eat all day and were out in Hempstead for a football game. I really have never gone to Dairy Queen for food only ice cream but the women I was with had certain items they enjoyed so since it was open (and many were not at this time of the evening)-we decided to drop in and grab a bite to eat. Everything was very clean. The young lady at the cash register had only been working there a very few days, but she was doing her best to do a good job which we appreciated. It was also nice to see other employees stepping in to help if she needed it. We were very scattered with our order so that made it difficult for her. Once we finished ordering, I was thinking we would sit down and they would call us for our food but within five minutes of ordering there, it was coming out of the kitchen so I had just gotten it paid for and we were taking it back to the dining area. I had a taco salad. It was small in comparison to other taco salads I’ve had but it contained all the essential ingredients. They forgot the salsa, but that was OK. The only issue I had with it was the bowl/taco shell tasted like stale oil. Not sure if you’ve ever had a hard shell with a funny taste, but that’s what I would compare it to one of the ladies had three tacos and some cheese bites and she said hers was good. That was her standard go to the other lady had a crispy chicken salad with ranch dressing. She said it was very good and it looked good. All in all, I would say this was a successful trip for what we were after. We were all thinking we were starving ….Dairy Queen...
Read moreThey were super busy on a major traffic route on the drive home rush in the last hours of labor day weekend..but there was one man (larger sized African American { please forgive me if that's not the current politically correct term} ), seemed to be a manager, who was pretty much running everything. The rest of the staff seemed to be aimlessly wondering around looking confused and attempting to take orders while seemingly overwhelmed and asking him question after question. He was a one man show helping multiple customers at once while making blizzards and checking orders as they went out for the dining room and drive thru, all while he politely directed the aforementioned aimless staff to complete the needed tasks. I didn't get his name but it was 5 pm on labor day. He was impressive and made up for the less than enthusiastic staff who seemingly lacked critical thinking skills. He did his best to make up for his crew of slackers and his polite demeanor made up for the multiple mistakes on orders as he politely and quickly corrected them after apologizing. When we arrived the dining area was a mess(dirty tables, dirty floor and dirty condiments counter) they were out of ice and diet and regular coke. He was directing the staff to correct the issues one by one and task by task and all but the soda stock was quickly remedied in the short time we were there. I truly believe if he wasn't already handling every aspect behind the counter he would have been out there cleaning and stocking the dining...
