Hiway Inn — Restaurant in Girard

Went in at noon with my wife and son. Noticed sign on door cash or check only, cost me $4 to withdraw cash to dine here. It's 2017 - get a card machine. Two waitresses working, our waitress was complaining about us coming in essentially, loudly enough all the customers could hear it. A busy day is NOT a bad day for a restaurant - hire some friendly waitresses that know how to smile. Decorate your restaurant, throw some old farming tools on the wall, get some posters or community flyers up.. somethin, it's a very bland environment in there. Ordered simple meals 2 eggs, fried diced potatoes "hashbrowns", toast and a biscuit and gravy for each of us. Food came out reasonably fast and was good quality. My only complaint is that the gravy is very bland and contained no sausage. Conclusion, 2 stars for solid quality breakfast for cheap, however the atmosphere sucked tremendously - arrived in a great mood, and left...

The only reason I am giving 1 star is because I can't give a zero. My daughter and I went to eat breakfast the a few days ago and there was a note on the door that said they were closing at 11 (as opposed to the normal time of 1pm). No big deal, things happen. Well, we tried again this morning. The two waitresses watched us sit down. They continued about their business like we weren't there. My daughter had to get up and get a menu for us. We made eye contact with one of the waitresses while she drank her soda, washed tables, refilled condiments. When we got there we were bothered that someone had left a penny on the table as we found it rude. Now we know why. Needless to say, we walked out and went to East Side Cafe where the staff is friendly and fast, service is great and the food is always delicious whether breakfast or lunch. We have never left...

This adorable little hole-in-the-wall is extremely cheap and has delicious food. The wait time is a little bit longer than normal because not much staff to help out but it's worth the wait! A little mom and pop place so if you have the opportunity and are hungry for lunch or breakfast I would definitely recommend...
