Where do I start? If I could leave zero starts I would. We had a group of 7 people and 6 of those meals were wrong. Three people ordered the filet cooked medium( a $27 meal) they were all well done and dried out. An absolute disgrace to a filet. Three people ordered chicken chesapeake ( a $24 meal). All had dried out chicken, a mediocre crab cake, and cold mashed potatoes. My husband asked for a Pepsi with his meal. He had to remind the waitress 3 times to get his drink. It finally came at the end of the meal. Itās sad that the only dish that was right was a Patty Melt. This is supposed to be a nice restaurant that charges expensive fares. Itās not ok that your best food is your āpub fareā. The service was some of the worst we have ever had. There was a 40 minute wait between appetizers and entrees we wouldnāt have minded as much if the entrees were edible, but that wasnāt the case. When we complained to the waitress about the entrees she offered to make something else. There was no way we wanted to wait another 40 minutes for new food. Next the āmanagerā came to see us. To start off the manager was wearing a pink T-shirt and more worried about decorating the Christmas tree rather than helping people. She said she would comp one of the fillets and offer free dessert to everyone else. Iām sorry but a $7 dessert does not comp a $27 entree! Next the owner came out. She was very apologetic and said she would make everything right. We thought everything would be taken care of but little did we know we would be there 50 more minutes waiting to get our checks. We were fine paying for our appetizers. The waitress came out 20 minutes after the owner to ask how the checks should be split. She then came back 15 minutes later to ask who had which soup. Really? To think you call yourself a waitress is appalling. She finally came out with checks, low and behold they were not correct. This is when we noticed they were only giving us 25% for the meals that no one ate. 10 more minutes went by when I finally went up to the front desk to find the āmanagerā ( I believe her name is Amber)and our āwaitressā (Nancy) standing there doing who knows what. I told them I would pay for our $42 bill simply because we were ready to walk out. We had been here now for TWO HOURS! I went back to the table. 7 more minutes went by until the waitress came back with more incorrect tickets for the table. At this point my husband and myself left. The rest of our group stayed and went to the front desk. At this point the owner came out and was upset that things were not handled properly. She did not make the rest of the group pay for anything, but it makes you question that shouldnāt the owner have made sure things were taken care of properly from the beginning? Not almost an hour later! To say the least we will never go back! I never leave reviews but I do not want anyone else to go thru the horrible experience...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOur first date night of the year, and my fiancĆ© made us reservations here. Iāve lived in York practically all my life and have never visited. Heās from Pittsburgh and has been asking about this place, so it was time! The entire night was fabulous! We were greeted immediately upon walking in, advising we were 30 minutes early and would like to have some drinks at the bar. I asked Jason, the bartender, to surprise me with a drink of his choice. He made some amazingly delicious caramel apple drink, and it did not disappoint. My fiancĆ© had a few Old Fashioneds and said they were the best heās ever had out to eat. We had several laughs with Jason. We then moved from the bar to our table in the wine cellar, where Sam was our waitress. She was wonderful! She was very knowledgeable on the menu and wine list (I ended up going a bottle of the featured Chardonnay made across the River in Lancaster), and she checked back in often, sharing a few laughs with us. I could not have been more excited because I was hoping to be sat there! The bread was amazing, but we really need to pause and give thanks for the butter! Best butter ever! (Yes, even more so than Texas Roadhouseās cinnamon butter.) It had rosemary in it and should be sold for home consumption! We each chose to go with the three course meal so we could try several things. My fiancĆ© chose the Arancini appetizer, short ribs for his entree (HIGHLY recommended by Jason, Leland, Sam, and another young lady whoās name I did not get), and an egg nog cheesecake for his dessert. I chose the Brie en croute for my appetizer, scallops and lobster risotto for my entree, and a three chocolate mousse cake for dessert. Holy wow!! Everything was prepared perfectly! The flavor profiles at this restaurant are unmatched in York, including the crostini we received with a salmon mousse and pickle on top. I never in a million years would have thought to pair salmon and pickles. This restaurant easily pushed itself into our number one date night spot! We will most definitely be returning soon and canāt wait to have the outdoor dining experience this summer! (Pictures arenāt great due to dim lighting in the wine cellar, but the presentation was beautiful.) Your restaurant has an...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe just completed our stay at the Glen Rock Mill Inn this past week (08/26/2021 ā 08/29/2021). I cannot even begin to state how great this place truly is. Everyone we encountered was extremely polite, friendly, and accommodating. When we arrived, we were greeted nice young woman and showed to our room. On the way to our room, we were informed that there was water, coffee available to the guest located in down the hall, and that there was some essentials such as toothbrush kits and shaving kits in the event the guest forgot them. Upon arriving at the room (Suite #9), we noted that it was very comfortable, clean, and well laid out. The room had a microwave, coffee pot, Wi-Fi, 2 flat screen televisions, a seating area, king size bed, and most importantly 2 well working air conditioners. The bathroom was a good size and the shower had amazing water pressure. The bed was comfortable and the room was extremely quite at night. The one unfortunate thing during our visit was that the restaurant was closed during the time we were there for renovations. However, that was not a big deal and completely understood on our part. As for breakfast, we were provided with a nice continental breakfast delivered to our room each morning. Which included a breakfast sandwich, fresh baked muffin, fresh fruit, and an orange juice. All of which were fantastic. The downstairs area of the mill has an amazing little ice cream shop that also makes coffees and snacks. Upstairs from the shop is a locally stocked shop with handmade goods from local vendors and small businesses. There is even a small tasting room for a local wine company called Jackson Square Vineyards. Do not miss the opportunity to go participate in the tasting and even buy a few bottles as we did. Overall we were extremely happy with our stay here at the Glen Rock Mill Inn, and will be using this as our stay each time we are in town visiting family moving forward. The location is amazing and the history of the mill and town are just as amazing. If you are looking for a place to stay in the area, do yourself a favor and look no more, this is the place to be especially if you are looking for comfort and...
