Been driving by this place every afternoon for several months now and always wanted to check it out. Few days ago I finally got a chance too and took advantage of it. It's a quaint little establishment! First thoughts would be the unusual location for a restaurant... But after getting a better assessment of the area, it's actually a good idea to have put it where it's at. Anyhow, after being greet immediately after walking in... We were able to take our choice of tables. At the time of our lunch the restaurant was mostly empty but I could imagine the place rocking just a few hours sooner. Our waitress was good. She was polite and knowledgeable of the menu able to offer some suggestions. The menu was what you'd see at a Denny's/IHop as far as options/variety... Maybe not as many options. Our food came out about the expected/standard time frame for this type of dining and was overall good. It wasn't top chef quality but it wasn't buffet quality either. I'd hope one wouldn't have top Chef expectations from such a little mom & pop spot. And this isn't a bad or negative thing towards the restaurant. I hope that makes sense? Would I recommend or return to 51st Avenue Cafe? Return, sure. Recommend, maybe... Maybe not? This isn't a place that I would think about if I was hungry and debating options... Let alone a place I would think about in general unless I was driving by it again or asked about it, if that makes sense? Which is why I don't think I'd be recommending it either. Jeez... What a rant here... Lol. Summarizing all this: Decent little mom & pop diner with an adequate food options and decent quality at...

This was my first time here but it definitely did not meet my expectations. I ordered a shredded beef breakfast burrito and it did not have any flavor and very little meat. The salsa also had no flavor.
Besides that the service was not great! I understand that at times restaurants get busy and it seemed like you were busy but every client should be treated with respect. I was not greeted when I walked through the door. There was obvious signs of frustrations from the hostess such as big sighs and eye rolling. She got frustrated when I asked what came in the breakfast burrito, I had to ask because it was my first time.
My simple burrito took over 30 min. I was a total of 45 min waiting for to-go food. When I received my food the hostess continued to be rude and just gave me my burrito with no thank you or apology for the long wait.
Not every restaurant is for everyone! This is one...
Read moreI came to pick up a doordash order and though we made eye contact upon entering the cafe, the older white lady worker pretended I wasn't there. She even made me wait while she did something on her register and honestly I felt she did it on purpose. After I waited for about what seemed like 4 to 5 minutes she asked if I was picking up an order. I gave her the name and still with barely any eye contact she hurriedly went to back and mumbled something like they are making it. I asked another girl how much time will it be since the lady didn't give me a chance to ask. I waited longer than I should of. You didn't have a name tag but I'm sure once you see this you will know who I am. I watched you at work while i waited and your demeanor was different with everyone else. You made me feel unwelcomed. Hope other delivery drivers have a...
