Sugar Makery Glenwood — Restaurant in Glenwood

We have been long time customers of Sugar Makery. We have ordered custom cakes, candy, popcorn, soda, and ice cream. In the past, the cake wasn’t our favorite, but the designs were adorable. The ice cream is always a hit for us though! This evening we went and my children ordered birthday cake ice cream. My son asked if he could have sprinkles on his ice cream. The woman helping us said “There is sprinkles in the ice cream!” I asked my son and he insisted he wanted sprinkles in his dish of ice cream and pointed to the sprinkles sitting in a jar. Again I asked the employee helping us and at that time, the young man that was there said “I’m sorry we can’t do that.” Both employees shared side glances like they were unsure. I said I am okay with an up charge for the sprinkles or whatever we have to do to make that work. The woman employee there then said “She doesn’t want anything added to her creations because it takes away from the flavor.” It was such a weird exchange! I feel like for the price I pay for the items there, I should be able to enjoy the ice cream the way I prefer them… maybe with sprinkles! In the grand scheme, not a big deal, just a very odd experience at a place that serves ice cream. We will continue to go because it’s local and my children like to have the...

Super friendly.

I could have bought every single Pez dispenser they had. Huge Fan of Pez & it's candy's. They should try and make a gummy version of Pez candy.

To top it all off they Even carry ice cream and even carry Sherbert for those that aren't a huge Dairy fan. My favorite is the color spoons.

I recommend that they carry Honey sticks. What's a candy store w/o honey sticks. All the same if you have an craving for something sweet, then come on down to Glenwood IA.

One more recommendation, they should try kettle corn. I bought a bag of one of my favorite flavors (salt and vinegar) and thought it best to try it kettle corn style.

And for those young and old give the Hopscotch a try...

We stopped in on a whim to grab some ice cream and were delighted to find such a cozy little shop with lots of sweets to choose from. The scent of popcorn greeted us in the parking lot, and it only got better from there. We tried several of the available ice cream flavors and they were all terrific. We'll definitely stop in again the next time we're passing through to try out more of their chocolate and candy offerings. They also have a large eclectic collection of bottled sodas to try.

The employees were friendly and had good suggestions and thoughts on the various choices of ice creams.

There is a small seating area outside on the patio, but no indoor seating. This wasn't a problem...
