My family and I had dinner there this past weekend. The atmosphere was wonderful and the musical acts were particularly excellent. Even so, I’m still giving Martin’s Livingston a two-star rating because plainly put, our service person might be the rudest one I have ever come across in my entire life.
From the second we sat down, she acted like it was a complete imposition to help us. And It wasn’t just that she was rude. Rather, she was rude in such an aggressive and unsettling way…like she was looking to get into an argument or something. This ruined the entire experience for everyone in our 10-person party. I don’t know what she had going on in her world, but she was certainly taking it out on us that night.
My wife and I were both embarrassed because my in-laws were visiting Mississippi for the first time. Throughout the years, the two of us have told them about how friendly everyone in Mississippi is, particularly in restaurant/service situations. This one experience flew in the face of everything we had told them and made it look like we didn’t know what we were talking about.
We didn’t get the server’s name, but she was younger and had blonde hair/blue eyes. I’m giving a two-star review instead of a one-star because the rest of the staff seemed professional and very friendly. The food was OK, but it wasn’t good enough to overcome the bad experience we had with this one service person. We would dine here again, but not if this particular young lady...
Read moreI'm only giving it a 2-star because the atmosphere was spot on. We came in around 3:40ish, and there were open tables, so we sat quickly, which was great. Our waiter got our drink order and appetizer placed. Then, it was the end of her shift. I get it that after a long day, you're ready to get out of work, but there are better ways to handle your leftover tables. She came to us, took our food order, and then proceeded to tell us that we needed to pay for our ticket before our food came out because it was the end of her shift. Um, I'm sorry. Is another waiter not going to take over our table? She told us that we would have another waiter but we needed to pay with her. We did so because again, I get it, she was ready to leave. Whenever our food got to us, the mashed potatoes were cold, the chicken strips were hard and chewy from being over cooked, we had no silverware, and the sauce we asked for was no where in sight. We had to go hunt someone down to get our drinks refilled and to ask for the missing sauces. Needless to say, I know new restaurants have hiccups, but having a waiter just disappear and not transfer a table over to ensure good service...
Read moreI was curious about Martin’s at Livingston location, and wanted to try it out. Well, today, I went out there with a friend for lunch. The food was pretty good, the atmosphere was really nice and the service was awesome. The bartender that helped us was very attentive, and she was very service oriented. She was very personable! The only really problem I had with this location, was that there is a very noticeable sticker on the front door that states this business is Veteran Owned. But, when I asked for a military discount while paying, I was informed there was no discount. I was shocked that they advertise being Veteran Owned, but won’t offer any military discount. As a 21 year Army Veteran, I was a little offended, to be honest. I kind of felt like the management wanted me to honor the owners military service, and eat at their establishment….but they weren’t willing to honor my service with a small discount. Anyway, there are a lot of military veterans in this area that would probably feel the same way. I will probably eat here again, but then again, with all the other choices...
