El Tapatio Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Golden

Beware of this place. This was the worst experience I’ve ever had with a restaurant, bar none. Seriously, It was so bad, I’m still shocked by what took place and the attitude of the manager. Their website says, “Customer satisfaction is our # 1 priority”…not even close. If you eat here, you’ve been warned.

On a recent visit, they called the police on me for refusing to pay for their mistake – no joke. I ordered an egg and potato burrito with guacamole. They served me a completely different burrito with chicken and various other ingredients – no egg or potato to be seen. After a 20 minute disappearance from our waitress (also the manager), I let her know that I was brought the wrong item, and that when I cut it open, it was abundantly clear and I did not take a single bite. I also told her that we had been waiting for so long we were just going to leave and asked her to please remove it from our ticket. She shrugged and walked off. After another wait, she dropped off our check without saying a word.

When I went to pay the bill, I realized that the wrong burrito was still on the ticket. I again asked the waitress to remove the item and she refused. (I’ve never, ever, not even once, done this in my life.) I told her that I would happily pay for my friends meal, but I should not have to pay for their mistake. She informed me that I MUST pay for the wrong burrito or she would call the police. I simply told her no and we left payment for my friends meal and left the restaurant. Without missing a beat, she called the police and actually followed us into the parking lot to try and collect additional payment. I was as polite as possible under the circumstances and again told her I refused to pay for their mistake, especially since I didn’t take a single bite of the “meat” burrito. To wrap this up, an officer actually pulled me over a short distance from the restaurant and I had to explain the circumstances to him. Mother's Day 2019. Walked in at 3:35 with a party of 11 and 1 baby. We were told it would be 30 minutes. At 4:11 we asked if they knew how much longer, the hostess said another 30 minutes. We finally got seated. We ordered our drinks and the 1st hostess gave 1/2 the people wrong drinks. We asked the manager for another waitress. Another lady came to take our orders. We specifically let her know that we needed separate bills. She said OK and took our orders separately. 40 minutes after ordering, our food came out. One of the moms at the table didn't get her food. 20 minutes later they brought her the wrong plate. 10 minutes after that they brought her the correct plate. When we approached the manager about the situation he said he would comp is the one plate and said he was short staffed because 4 people called in sick. If that was the case they should've told us when we walked in that they couldn't handle our party. Now came the bill. Yup, you guessed it, it wasn't separate like we asked. It took her 10 minutes to separate our order. Another 15 minutes just to stand in line to pay. 3 and 1/2 hours spent here on Mother's Day! My advice is to go to Taco Bell next time......

I have never waited so long to order or get my food at a restaurant, ever! Granted, we had a very large party and we wanted our girls to order and eat first since they had somewhere to get to, but we did not see a service person at our table for at least an hour after they brought drinks and chips and salsa. Even after half the parents left and took the girls, we still had terrible service...and there was only six of us left. After we finally ordered, it took another 45 minutes or so to get our food. When it finally came, the waiter put it on the table, said enjoy and tried to leave. We had to call him back to get a few things...a friend and I ordered a beer, which never came. When we were almost finished eating, someone finally came to the table and we asked again and that lady actually did bring them. It was so weird. And never once did anyone apologize for the long wait or offer any kind of discount. I will never go there again and will be sure to tell people about our terrible,...
