First off, "atmosphere" needs 10 stars. The vibe of this place is what sets it apart from other independent local coffee shops in the area. I have been frequenting this coffee shop/used book store since 2011 and I am so glad to see it solidified as a business in Golden. Their coffee is my absolute favorite ever. It has great flavor without tasting burnt (ahem, big chain that rhymes with car shucks). I usually just go for a standard latte anywhere else, this is the only coffee shop where I get flavorings added because it's not just sickenly sweet syrup. Their spiced maple latte is amazing, blows pumpkin spice out of the water, and their peppermint latte is also a great seasonal flavor. But if any sort of flavorings aren't your thing, their stand alone coffee is quite good. The used book part of the place is fun too, I have bought far too many unneeded books just browsing while waiting for my drink and it's a constantly varying selection. They have a wide selection of seating to accomodate everyone. Want to read while enjoying your coffee? They've got couches and lounge chairs. Need to get some work/studying done? They have tables with actually comfortable chairs. Want to work but computer is short on batter life? They have a very long countertop right under their windows with plenty of power strips and practical seating. Yes, they have music, but it's quieter background music and it's generally a more mainstream sound vs. the louder indie stuff most local shops feel the need to blast for some reason. Whenever I go there it's to just get out of the office and get some work done with a change of scenery and good coffee. The place is always busy but never loud. You hear the quiet buzz of conversations but never hear people being loud or obnoxious. Order a coffee and stay all day. They willingly share their wifi password if you need it so long as you buy something. I am not of the generation/age where the "vibe" drives my decision, but let me tell you what, the "vibe" here is warm, calm, relaxing, and welcoming. I love it here and come whenever I am anywhere nearby. Give this place a shot, you won't be...
Read moreI will start out by saying I love bean fosters and all their food/drink options are amazing. The staff is also usually great. With that being said, there were two young ladies working the closing shift that were rude and gave my special little coffee shop a bad name. I was working at bean fosters towards the end of the day and a friend wanted me to come out and talk; well we talked for a little longer than I thought and the girl came out and rudely asked if my things were in the coffee shop and that they had been closed for a while. It was 5:02. For those of you who don’t know, they closed 2 minutes prior. I went in and the other girl behind the counter said “about time you got your stuff” as I was profusely apologizing for what I had thought was 30+ minutes after closing (I hadn’t looked at the time until after I left). I walked out and the first person didn’t say a word to me. I haven’t been back bc I felt mistreated by the staff for making a minor error. I have been going to bean fosters for 5 years and am deeply hurt that ownership allows this in...
Read moreOne important aspect of any business is consistency of quality and seeking to cultivate a better and better product. Striving for excellence should be the motivating factor in any enterprise. Unfortunately at Bean Fosters that “motivating factor” does not seem to be present nor that of consistency in their product. So in experiencing this cafe twice, I’ve had two very different experiences. The first time I went there I bought a kambucha, which I think was mango flavored, and it was quite good. I also had a pesto panini, which was delicious, small but delicious. The second time I went there I ordered a kambucha again, it was truly disgusting, I think that who ever “brewed”it was trying some sort of pineapple experiment that went terribly wrong, it tasted rotten, not fermented. The other item I ordered was a “breakfast burrito” with sausage, it was very tiny and overpriced, the flavors were banal.
If the owner of the establishment wants to make and keep patrons please make sure that your product not only has consistency but...
