Libby's Cafe — Restaurant in Goldsby

Critiquing the restaurant as people just passing thru. We stopped in for dinner on our way to Texas. We really loved it, but there were a couple of little things that kept this from being a full 5 star rating.

Starting with the bathrooms. In the men's room the urinal is definitely built for the slimmer, narrower man, but the stall and all else were great. No complaints on the women's room. Loved the black chandelier!

Seating was good except the metal frame of the chair I sat in was sticky. Made moving it around kinda icky.

Service was extra-ordinary. Cracked a joke with my shy son at my expense 😄 that helped him get his order out. And the food came out super fast! My husband and our two teens felt the mashed potatoes and gravy were on another level. The petite ribeye steaks were perfectly cooked to order. Lettuce was cool and crisp.

Only complaints were the lack of real butter for the fresh dinner rolls (outstanding rolls!) and the chicken fried steak was meh. The steak was very thin and over cooked unfortunately. My husband has partials so eating it wasn't satisfying.

Those complaints are minor, though. We don't drive thru the area as much as we used to, so we may never drop in again, but we'll remember the pleasent time we had on a...

Love Libbys. But tonight must have been our waitresses' first night waiting tables... ever. Only took half the tables drink order, ordered our food wrong, we had to have another waitress help fix it, never checked on us, we had to go to the bar to order drinks (which was another issue), and really just completely ignored us for a couple of hours, we could have left if she would have brought a ticket, we could have stayed had she waited on us. We had to flag her down after hours of no service and watching her wait on other tables. We will be back but definitely requesting that we not ever get her. Bartender definitely favors men, we took an empty bucket to the bar, because our waitress flaked after messing up a few times, didn't get any acknowledgement, 2 men showed up after standing at the bar for a few minutes, the bartender helped one man, made a drink, then went to help the second... after that, we had to speak up about being ignored. like I said, we will go back because one bad night isn't going to ruin our fun, but some things need a...

There is stuff to like and stuff to not. The menu is a big broad selection of mostly southern favorites mixed with burgers & sandwiches. They also have a bunch of fried appetizers. Avoid the 'Sampler Platter" app. $11 for a tiny basket of fried pickles, green beans and jalapenos. The all-you-can-eat fish is one of the best deals on the menu. I also can highly recommend the Philly. The chicken fried steak is delicious and as big as your head. Steaks are decent if overpriced. They also have a salad bar which is fine but nothing to write home about. I have one major complaint about Libby's and it's the service. Now the servers here are great. Friendly & accommodating. The problem is the floor is perpetually understaffed. There's never more than 2 or 3 servers running the floor on busy nights. Your drink will sit unfilled and your server will be kept busy with other tables. Happens all the time especially at dinner when it's busy.
