Let me start by saying that our waitress was wonderful but the management was terrible. I visited Well Hung on March 4th for the evening meal. That was a mistake. I had heard from friends that this place was wonderful for brunch on Sundays so decided, with a few friends, to give it a try. We arrived and were told to sit at a high-top table even though there were two regular tables available. The manager gave us a very hard time and had way too much attitude for my liking. We explained that we all were disabled with back issues and could not be comfortable at a high-top. She stated that she wanted to reserve the larger tables for larger parties even though, not only does the restaurant not take reservations, but the other 6-top had her computer and personal items on it. She then offered to put us outside where there were lower tables. We did not want to be outside as it was cold. We said we could not sit outside so she allowed us to sit at one of the 6-tops closest to the door and proceeded to leave the door open so we got the cold air anyway. Dinner came and the appetizer was the portabella fries which were extremely overcooked and the sauce had way too much vinegar in it and that is all we tasted when eating them. My soup was good but lukewarm. The crab flatbread had raw onions on it and one small piece of crab was found on it. The pasta had no flavor. Dessert was good. My friends and I were not enchanted with this place at all. For most of the dinner, the manager stood behind the bar and stared at me to let me know how unhappy she was with us. Again, our waitress was delightful and we tipped her well. The day service seems to be great but we will not be returning at night and have to deal with the...
Read moreJust moved to the area and a friend and I wanted to find a good regular brunch place when someone suggested Well Hung.
We entered the restaurant and were told we could pick our seats. Inside was loud and clangy so we sat outside at a table that had menus and silverware. As soon as we sat, the server came up and asked very curtly if we had a reservation. So we had to move to another table that had a fan blowing loudly in the corner on an already breezy day. We asked if it could be turned off and the server said it was really for the waitstaff to prevent bugs so no. She takes our drink order which was just waters and lemonade and then proceeded to wait nearly an hour for our food. She didnt check on us again until 25 minutes in and our drinks sat empty. Halfway through waiting, an employee rushed out crying, clearly a symptom of some of the issues here. When the food finally came out: two brunches and an appetizer, they were room temperature.
The server was very clearly trying to salvage what she could and kept asking if we wanted anything else. Her very unwelcoming start and then hovering after was very off-putting. The service was unbelievably poor and the food came out like it had been sitting on the counter for 30 mins. At any other restaurant, a wait that long would have comped the meal. Maybe they should stick to only...
Read moreI was not sure what expect when we walked in but what I received was an extremely warm welcome by Myles the manager Sarah and Juliet the wonderfully attentive, patient and kind wait staff. Iâm speaking about the restaurant and wine tasting room âWell hungâin Gordonsville, VA it was a Sophisticated place serving great wines and sophisticated food that does NOT make you feel uncomfortable like some wine/restaurants can, they were so warm a welcoming and glad to have you there. Rare in todayâs world. Itâs NOT a snooty place. Itâs neighborhood place that makes its patrons and even those like us who are so far from home feel one in the same. Their chef knows what heâs doing and has set up a menu that pairs well with all wines and the portions and favors chosen leaves your palette wanting to come back more. I wish this place was where it live. Donât leave without asking about dessert and DONâT leave without buying a t-shirt. And gluten-free options are available too Iâm telling you this place is thought of everything, WELL HUNG! Whether itâs yours or mind or hanging off the vine. Itâs funny you know it is! With Myles and his staff (did I say staff) you will love this place as much as my family did. Sincerely Sean M....
