Normally, this is a fantastic family oriented environment that offers customer service and support with humility and a smile.
Tonight was not that evening. When asking the brunette making my ice cream if it was normal to fill the sundae half full of ice cream and cap with whip cream, her short retort was "yep" and walked away without support or resolve.
I had to gather her attention, explain how it normally came, to which she said nothing other than taking the sundae and making me wait until she finished her other orders, only to return the newly made sundae without saying a word, turning around and simply left.
I understand being busy, stressed and frustrated. What I don't understand and appreciate is using the customers to vent your frustration, ignoring them until you feel you need to deal with the situation and leaving the customer feeling like their offering of patronage is not wanted or needed.
I sincerely hope the attitude doesn't evolve and fester with the other employees, further ruining the experience of what's meant to be a family...
Read moreThis place is my go to, and will continue to be because the ice cream is always tasty and the service is good. My complaints are mainly with the crazy oversized portions, when I order 1 scoop... I expect, AND WANT 1 scoop... Not 3. However due to the oversized portions, it's a great value! The line is so long because the bottle neck is the ordering/paying process, the other 3 staff members are putting the order together before I've finished telling the order... So they got it wrong, and 3 other customers in line also had mistakes in their orders, but no one is going to wait in that line again to get their order fixed! It's really hard to read the flavor sign due to the super bright flood lights that cause glare all over the sign. Simple things that can be fixed, please fix them. See you...
Read moreReally great ice cream for a good price. My only complaint is the cashiers who handle the cash also scoop the ice cream without washing hands or donning gloves. Food poisoning outbreak in the making if you ask me.
Edit: thanks for the reply, Beal's! The paper covering and dish would be helpful if your staff avoided touching anything but the paper, but they don't. Literally they use their grubby hands to grab a spoon (the part I put in my mouth, no less) and plop it in my dish. A spoon being an "unwrapped single use article", as mentioned on page 38 of the State of Maine Food Code. Follow food sanitation protocols and have them wear gloves, wash hands, or have a separate person man the register and handle the food. It's just gross to touch money and food without...
