There is almost nothing that is not subpar about this establishment. It is an example of a place that has a catchy name and you want to support a small business and you give them chance after chance and they just don’t meet the mark. I was placing a large dinner order: a little of this a little bit of that from their prepared food case and one of the staff felt it was important to tell me that I needed to place my order while standing at the register and I asked can I place my order while looking at the items because I’ll otherwise forget all of the different things that I want. She rolled her eyes and said something rude to the other girl. These girls clearly, would rather be anywhere but behind the counter of a customer service deli. Since it was convenient for her I committed to memory the 10 different items that I wanted. Then I left without a container and I didn’t realize it until I got home because I was so shaken, but I sat in my car for a good six minutes responding to work related text messages after leaving the store, one of the staff could easily have brought me the container I left behind. So the biggest problem is staffing, and this is why I will never return. The attitude of the workers is as if you are doing them a favor by walking in the door and placing an order. The quality of the food is questionable if not outright unhealthy. Most of it processed masquerading as healthy. They have catered several of my family parties over the years, thanks to me, promoting their name to many. I don’t know what happened but the place is now drastically below expectations. They charge premium prices but they do not deliver on par with their price point. If there was a single redemptive quality, I would not write this review, There is not. It is a sad place filled with sad staff and bad food and I expect to see this place boarded up. You can’t carry on as imposters for much longer and if you want a fighting chance #1 eliminate your counter staff that do not have customer facing attributes #2 re-examine the quality of your meats and not-homemade salads #3 do something about the cleanliness of your space.
Then this just a few days ago. I placed.a $600 catering order and the serving utensils were left out of my order at pick up. I called the store to let them know because at that point I was on a ferry, bringing their catering to my family event. A call to notify the store is met with defensiveness and insistence that I was wrong and they were right. I arrived with enough time before my event to get what I needed but I will not easily let go of the fact that the store did not acknowledge their mistake and were unable to simply say “we’re so sorry”.
Don’t bring your business here.
“We do not have an order for you for utensils on your invoice, and you did not pay for them“. Please see the attached, and the six serving utensils that I ordered and paid for.
God forbid they were wrong.
Good luck trying to follow this invoice and what cost...
Read moreI've been here a bunch of times, but this past Saturday might be the last time I go. It wasnt because of the food or the workers, but because of the manager and how he treated his workers...
I called after work on Saturday and ordered a steak and cheese. The young lady on the phone took my order and asked what type of cheese I wanted, but never asked about anything else. I've never had to explain that I dont want mushrooms, peppers and onions and this day she didnt ask so I assumed I would have gotten just a steak and cheese, plain. I went inside and picked up my food and the manager was there with a few teenage guys, he seemed to be yelling at them and if not yelling at them, talking down to them might have been a better description talking to them about how to close up bread or something like that. I sat at the counter for a bit listening to this guy talk to these kids when the young lady finally asked everyone if anyone had talked to me yet.. The manager said something along the lines of, "No but drop what you're doing and help him". She did and was very polite.
I got my food and brought it home and realized it had the mushrooms, peppers, onions etc. I called and spoke with the manager and asked if i could come back and exchange my food for a new sandwich, to which he was fine with that. I drove there and as I was walking in, this manager was literally yelling at the entire staff about my steak and cheese talking about accountability. I felt terrible as these kids should not have been yelled at like this, it was an honest mistake that I thought was taken care of. I just feel terrible for the kids who work there if that's who they have managing them... If any of you kids who were working there this past Saturday read this post, I really hope that me asking for a new sandwich did not get you guys yelled at like I saw..
If you're the manager reading this, you should learn how to talk to people better, especially younger folks you have working for you. I would not work for someone who yells at me like you yelled at...
Read moreI like the idea of this place—a local hangout where people can pop in to grab a drink and a snack. Self-serve coffee draft. Town newspaper available. Even some baked goods imported from Bean Counter. The catering window food we took to go was decent. The food we ate there, dining in? Cold and mediocre. The stuffed pepper was cold because it came out of the display; that one at least makes sense even if they should have heated it. (Why would you give us a cold stuffed pepper on a plate and expect us to enjoy the experience? The cold made it flavorless and hard to chew.) The pretzel bites, though, were ordered off the menu. An employee disappeared in the back of the store to go retrieve them, and it took a while, so I figured they were making a fresh batch. That's normally how restaurants work. When the kid brought out a little basket of pretzels for our table, they were cold, rock hard, and lathered in oil. I don't understand where he went when he went to go get them??? It obviously wasn't a kitchen. (Fair warning: the employees are teenagers who care more about joking with each other than doing their jobs well. We didn't get charged for one of our items, even after I mentioned it to the cashier. She was too busy looking behind her, smiling at another employee. I let it go because I wasn't going to fight to give them more...
