One of they few remaining mom and pop establishments remaining. Everything here is done in the most absolute home cooked meals in the most common remaining ways. Kids were busting tables and washing dishes by hand in a household sink.
Setting: When you first walk in, you're overwhelmed with old time decor. The first few steps, you'll feel the eneveness of the settled flooring with household dining tables and chairs intended for a family meal. Yes, it's cluttered and super tight. But, it's friendly with a make yourself at home feeling. The bathroom is very basic but respected by patrons and clean!
Service: the gal running felt like a long lost aunt making sure your fed. Don't ask for a menu.. "I am your menu" she'll say. Walk up to the "Pay Here" and she'll present you with everything they have and take your order. They take care of you like guests visiting their home. 😆 you'll feel so welcome, you'll want to help out.
The Food: I don't like sweets and the only pie I eat is pumpkin without whipped cream. But everyone was stuffing they're faces with tradition homemade pies, and some with ice cream. I'll say this, they sure looked good. I ordered a pot pie, but they were out. 3 minutes later, the gal (I really wish I got her name) came up to me.. "we have one left, would you like me to throw it in the oven?" Lol YES! when I cut into my pot pie, I was disappointed, because it looked so dry. Us, consumers are so used to frozen boxed pot pies being loaded with gravy as a filler to save money. Not this pot pie! It was loaded with chicken and all the fixings inside. And moist.. omg it was so moist. I ate so much I was going to pop!
I took my aunt on a day trip, drove 2 hours out, and picked and turn around destination that ended up being Pie Town Pie Company...Pie-O-Neer. It was a long drive from the Arizona - New Mexico boarder, but so worth it. We will make that boring drive again for that...
Read moreI stopped by this place on a trip to Albuquerque via the back roads. It’s pretty much in the middle of nowhere. I got there a couple hours after they opened and they were already almost sold out of pie. I bought their last two pieces to go. A piece of chocolate praline chess pie, and a piece of sour cherry almond chess pie. They both were absolutely delicious! I’m already scheming on how I can make a trip to get back to this place and try some more pie and some of their food also.
Some of my favorite items are: Chocolate Praline Chess Pie ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Sour Cherry Almond Chess Pie ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Want to try next time: Green Chile stew Queso quiche NM Apple Pie Whatever other pie they have!
My guide on how I use the 5 star system: ⭐️ = Not good ⭐️⭐️ = Not terrible, but would not get again ⭐️⭐️⭐️ = Solid, but I’d try something else before this again ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ = Really liked it! You should try this ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ = Loved it! Must try I’ll make adjustments to my ratings after subsequent visits. If you see a .3 or .7 it means: .3 = Wasn’t as good the 2nd or last time I tried it .7 = This was better the 2nd or last...
Read moreAMAZING! Walking into the wood stove warmed, Pie-O-Neer was like joining friends at the cabin. Linda, the compassionate server, and the fragrance of cinnamon welcomed us on a snowy morning. Linda shared the long list of fresh pies and the available savory items such as quiche and ham with toast that were available. Menu items depend on many factors, but the pies are always amazing! We had the spinach quiche, and the crust was incredible. Huge portion! We also indulged in the blueberry-peach pie and took a sweet potato swirl single pie-let to go. Everything was perfectly seasoned and spiced! Linda and all the staff were helpful on a chilly day. All customers were also given a paper sack of onions. They were sweet and fresh. We ate them down the road on the grill, and they are delicious! The book, Pie Town Pies, available for purchase, has the recipes and the back story of Pie Town; it makes for a great read while eating your take-home pie! Thank you all for sharing Pie Town...
